Surf guitar in non-surfy context is kinda my jam.
Boss's spring reverb (at least what's in the GT-001) doesn't work at all for me. Their spring splash feels like a triggered sample on top of a generic reverb. It's weird. Maybe the RV-6 or FRV-1 are better?
*SHILLING ALERT* For those who don't already know, the RV-7 and Polara are nearly identical in functionality, it's just that the Polara swaps the RV-7's Gated for the Supernatural's Shimmer. The Supernatural has a different model of spring reverb that feels less splashy and more spacious with a longer decay, in other words, more ambient. For my needs I definitely prefer the RV-7/Polara algorithm.
I'm going to build a Surfy Bear one of these days, for kicks (and to be kicked).
