I have a second SSD but that was as much "it was a lack of trust in putting all my eggs in one basket."
Lets me put some stuff on the second SSD and keep the primary a little less cluttered.
May not provide any boost, it just was easy to do.
The HDDs aren't going away for me any time soon, I have TBs of other data.

lol. since i can't set it up until she decides it's not her house..... i guess like A BULLION SECONDS OF LATENCY.

Sounds like you need to find a nice piece of something not cat-supportable on top of the hole.
