Better a pleb than a profligate. Sometimes.

I can never have enough, especially of pedals with 2 ins and 2 outs.
When I play solo shit, I like putting unusual shit in a nested loop, like a phaser in a loop within a loop within the aux send pushing to a channel..... weird effects get weirder, though "musical" is the last thing on my mind in such cases.
I like the rainbow machine, but I don't use it musically. I love the Dirty Doper, and I use it both for looping and for guitar work, but it can sometimes be temperamental.

In the end, the perceived 'usefulness' of a pedal is inversely related to the amount of time I spend finding a comfortable "home" setting.

of what significance is a HM-2 when it isn't a bigmuff?

That means it's something I actually would want two of.

I do not love the Big Muff, sam I am.

I do not love it in a small box.
I do not love it in a rock.
I do not want it with an IC slot.

They used to break -
Every tour stop we'd wait
For the bassist to get another
From another godforsaken shop.

But I'm the guy with a small Roland shrine.

They do not break
for goodness sake
if you don't misuse
and violently abuse
and boss you say
don't die that way?
but untrue that is
for the power jack
in the back
will fail you in time
the plastic cheap crime
just from plugging in
and it's ready for the bin
unless batteries enslave
to your e-tone-al grave.

All the muffs that died
Sputtered and choked and fried
At least made a satisfying thunk
When vintage boxes into trashcans dumped
Because it was before the days of the 'Bay.

Even the eighth-inch DOD
When it came to frippery
Failed less than the Muff,
And Boss was always up to snuff!
