Zappa was definitely a weirdo. I prefer his bro, Captain Beefheart, but that's a subject for another thread.

Who is the coolest weirdo ever? do it! George Duke isn't bad and I don't mind Gentle Giant actually but there is just a bit too much smooth jazz in most of it for me, technically it's good..
i don't know if it's really 'fusion' per se, but i've been digging Don Ellis a lot lately. he's kind of like a weird combination of Zappa & Brubeck:

I like fusion, hard bop, out jazz, etc. Don't know many names but I know when I hear that shit I put on a black turtleneck and beret and smoke tea.
