Re: ✤ Old rusty fuzz demos : Unicord Uni-Fuzz, Dizzy Tone ✤

Post by gaussgunn »

I`ve been searching through ebay for a cheap guitar for heavy tunings, cuz all of my guitars are always in standard. Suddenly I found this old beaten SG..
Image

This guitar has a huge and..brutal background made by previous owners. Stock bigsby was removed, stoptail added. That job was done SUPER inaccurately.
Image

Headstock was broken twice. Stock pups were removed with ..EMGs + two holes for pups switches drilled through the body. Somebody has been extinguishing cigarettes with guitar body FOR DECADES. Guitar looks like more like a battle axe than a guitar :animal:
Image

The neck is extremely thin : nut width is about 4mm thinner then my gibson firebird neck, which is slimtaper. The neck`s profile is much rounder than slimtaper but slim too. I feel like I`m hanging a toy when I`m playing it, but it`s not really good. Tuners are almost dead. There are two empty extra holes for the straplocks..
Image
Image
I said to the seller that he can leave EMGs to himself, so he lowered the price : 350$ including shipping. I put ordinary 490T pup and its alright ;)

Nice!

I've always fancied a seventies SG, I actually like the small inlays (and prefer no-binding). The prices have started to creep up around here lately so that boat may have sailed for me.

I have a japanese copy with BKP Mississippi Queens that fills the gap though. It's got a pretty slim neck too. I end up playing it more than any other guitar because it lacks a case and sits in the corner of my room most days, aha

Haha you told me my story! I got Burny SG ( 57 classic pups ) which is my #1 guitar for the same reason lol
You got cool axes!

This unit was modded by analogman, so the depth control is active in chorus mode, finally. Now you can get very subtle and sweet chorus sounds. Suprisingly - if you plug into stereo out with one cable - then chorus and vibrato will be mixed, sounds VERY similar to zvex lo fi junky, seriously! Love it. But what is the coolest thing about it? LEVEL CONTROL KNOBZILLA, CUZ IT CAN FUZZ :!!!: Next time I`ll make demo with normal chorus settings :)

Very versatile stuff, it stacks really good with singles and low output humbackers, it can be ripping, it can be creamy. I love this piece of gold. Tons of respect to Mike :thumb:

Cool toy. Sounds very close to octavia type pedals when you`re using single coils. And obviously sounds much darker and beefy with hums. Love that battery door :D
LOVE THIS THREAD!
I love the fuzz machine and my RIPPER pedal is a close clone of it. I even use old stock japanese transistors.
So awesome hearing all these old pedals!

Probably the worst analog octave on the earth..but it`s not a bad heavy-glitching fuzz  Got one evil sounding setting, love it, you can use it to scare the shit out of your audience during the live perfomance

Absolutely love the note decay I get with my Colorsound one knob clone. Reminds me of frying bacon. If I close my eyes and inhale through my nose I can almost smell the bacon. Seriously though they are awesome sounding vintage designed fuzzes. Probably one of the earliest designed silicon fuzzes. Dick Denney was a true genius.

Love those Bubble Font Sovtek Muffs. Are your demos through that Matamp that is in the demo further up the page?

KaosCill8r, no , all of my demos ( the crappiest ones too  ) are recorded through the fender super reverb '65 reissue, cuz I love reverb and Matamp`s distortion texture affects fuzz sound a lot.

My new toy, and I`m foken happy with it. What it does?
Treble boost : sounds like lo-fi overdrive when dimed
Fuzz with tone position 1 : sounds extra rippy and..fuzzy
Fuzz with tone position 2 : sounds a bit different, don`t know how to explain, anyway it is strange trying to describe sound with words, just listen if you have a time :)*
