for the longest time, i said his name as "ying wee"goroth wrote:I've noticed an alarming trend the past few days with some dedicated breaux mentioning PT-nanos, downsizing and generally owning and utilising less fuzz. In the interest of sorting this shit out before it gets out of hand, LISTEN TO YNGWIE! He knows what he's talking about.

Maybe Yngwie and his ilk are not good at songwriting, but they're good at guitar playing, so they plays to their strengths. You kind of have to take any artistic expression on its own terms, although of course you don't have to listen to it.

I dare to disagree. When it comes to art it's completely ok to dislike something just because you dislike it. Expression is no value of its own. I express on the toilet too. Nothing is great by default just because someone made it and he meant it. Art is one of the few things humanity creates that are allowed to surpass the boundaries of reason and economics. Thinking that something is crap just because is the truest form of validation this concept can get. Besides we always do it, all the time. Why not admit to it?

UM I love Sunn and Earthsonidero wrote:Oh young Padawan so much is still to learn...DarkAxel wrote:I'd argue that Earth 2 or Sunn O))) in general aren't about really about music at all... not as we get music i mean
Pretty close bro! The y sound is made by making an "ee" sound but moving your lips forward to an "oo" position. That's close enough anyway. Then there's just a nasal, like ng is pronounced in "ing". Ve is pronounced with a short e like in "pen". So the 2nd syllable is like "veh". We spell it Yngve. It's an old name, and Yngwie is a hopeless attempt to anglicise Yngve...sonidero wrote:ING-VAAA...spacelordmother wrote:"Wing-eee"
Better Recognize... Sounds better and makes everything that's Yngwie sound stupider...
I tried to elaborate "why" in previous posts, but it isn't always so easy to pinpoint what you don't like about something.leaves turn wrote:That's a good post. Though I still like to know why people like or dislike the thing they are commenting on.
This. So this. That's the thing about being deeply into music or movies or books of visual art. Especially if it is something of particular esthetic interest to you, you are totally allowed to not like it or even hate it. I'm pretty open genre and style wise, but that doesn't mean I'll find things to be crap in any of those genres and styles.phantasmagorovich wrote:When it comes to art it's completely ok to dislike something just because you dislike it.
If you read a little closer, that's exactly what I'm saying.phantasmagorovich wrote:friendship wrote:I figure technical prowess show-offery is just another form of expression, no less or more valid than any other.
