Anyone have any experience with Everly? This pack is a little cheaper than the comparable Ernie Ball set: http://www.amazon.com/Everly-XRockers-S ... 42&sr=1-33

I am currently enjoying Dunlop Heavy Core 12-54's on my Stratocaster. Im tuned to C and they have a nice amount of beef and tension without having to alter the nut or springs.

Bumping an old thread for some opinions and input.

I'm in need of some advice on strings. I tune to drop G# on a Monson, 25" scale. I have a little left over on a gift card that I want to use up for strings, so I'm looking for a big box manufacturer. I currently use D'Addario and have been happy with them (tone and durability). But I'm lost on what size i should be looking at for that tuning and scale. Thanks in advance for any help you guys can provide.

That's a tough one. I've gotten down to A with Ernie Ball 'Not Even Slinky's' before, but they definitely need a wound G

something like .14-.72 is gonna be the smallest you'll want for that tuning. You might have to get baritone strings.

I don't mind a little flop and slop but the current set of .56 aren't cutting it at all. Lol. Can anyone say spider webs. It started as a "lets see how this feels moving from drop A# down a full step". They were floppy then. So I knew if I liked the overall tone and feel then I'd be making a change to a more permanent setup. I like the feel and love the sound. Just gotta get the proper setup and tension.

Maybe try the biggest flatwounds you can get? I m using 11-51s on a lp copy tuned to b and they seem way less floppy than the normal round wounds of the same gauges

I was hoping you'd chime in, AA. I know you tune somewhere in that region and you've discussed it at length with the tension charts and all.

I usually use the Circle K tension chart when picking a set of strings for a new tuning but I'm using a .79 low string for F so .72 should get you into the right realm for decent tension in G# while still being a big box brand that you can access easily. I'm still trying to figure out my best plan for eventual touring I know I'm going to have to either order like a dozen of the d'addario version of the low string I use (I use .79 but they only make a .80) and use the 6 string d'addarios I use on my sixes (this is the string setup on my black seven string) or order a dozen of the Circle K 7 string sets that I have on my blue 7 string... either way it ain't cheap....
