Deadly. I like the look of this circuit as is but would be tempted by 2n5089s in there instead of 88s. Bit more clarity and bite.

Any idea on roughly what the kit is gonna cost? That way I can start putting some cash back.

Not sure yet. A BOM would need to be created (bill of materials) to get an idea of the cost of the whole thing. Also will depends on how many buys ins we get, as parts cost decrease if we order larger quantity

So the plan for now is that we are going to get 3 protoboards fabbed by OshPark. That takes about 2-3 weeks to be fabbed and shipped to me. Then I will split of the boards, 1 for me, 1 for Skip and 1 for another builder so we can make 3 prototypes. Likely have Chris etch the first 3, which I could drill out before sending it all out with the PCBs. Once a proto or 2 is built and the PCB is confirmed to be okay we can begin to think about preorders

yea they are pin compatible, actually lots are. 2n3904, 2n2222(a), 2n5088, 2n5089, MPSA18. Anything that goes EBC or CBE

Of course, another of my favourites is the BC549C but more so for smooth bass than gnarly highs.

Would be nice to make a few specs for this muff, I think one spec needs to be the Dopesmoker spec, the most tuned to get some Dopesmoker tone even tho a muff is not the core element in that particular recording.

EQ Response for schematic posted, flat mids. Pretty much based around the EQ on a Hoof but with balanced HPF and LPF

Very exciting stuff here. It would encourage DIY if the PCB's and boxes were sent out with all the components necessary for completion. I really would love for this to be my first proper project. If I do a good job in preparation up to this with the kits I intend to buy from madbean, maybe moose and I could build a few for the UK and European Doom Roomers. Only if people would be cool with a newbie (myself, not moose) working on their pedal.

I totally plan on building this as closely as possible to the way Nick wires stuff up. My wiring has gotten a LOT neater thanks to seeing how he does all the Dunwich stuff.
Nick have I mentioned how much you rule lately? I'm liking all your thoughts on this so far.
