I usually solder on my wooden computer desk but it's so cramped. It would be nice to have a cheapo laptop for looking at schematics and crap while I do it on a workbench or something.
Also I let the legs fly when snipping them off of components, then step on them days later. Don't do that.

Hahaha when I lived with 3 roommates I would do my drilling in the kitchen by the trashcan, which, in the way that the kitchen was laid out was next to the island, in front of the refridgerator. I'd do my best to get all the millings into the can, but you know shit flies. Needless to say I got a few complaints haha

hey guys, i wanna make a tremolo pedal, preferably from a kit since it's the "next step" i guess from what i've been doing... (fuzzes and boosts). what do you guys think is better, the kit from guitar PCB or the BYOC trem? just because the guitar pcb is cheaper, i'm drawn to that one... and i can get a painted enclosure from mammoth

Mammoth has kits too on their site. And I'm pretty sure you can get the enclosure sent drilled and painted!

Having already built a GuitarPCB trem, I'd say go with the BYOC one...just looks slightly easier to me.
I discovered that I either dislike or don't know how to use tremolo. I really wish it was less smooth and more of a squarewave trem or something. Like the Moses.

I like Madbean's trem, cause there is a dedicated knob that goes between square and sine

The regular layout is the one you buy from Madbean himself. The single sided version is for etching your own pcb.

Re: I want to start building, guide me?
mammoth doesn't have a 3.3M resistor... can I use 3.9M instead? Or get one elsewhere..?

Re: I want to start building, guide me?
Might yeild a little different of a sound. You could always double up 2 values to get close or 3.3M. I think I ended up using 3.9 and it worked just fine

ah... i love it when ordering components is so much cheaper than you thought it would be.
