Like many of you I don't like to use processors (like a Pod or vst plugins) beacause I love my amp and my pedals. So I'm using my pedals and my amp like this, without waking up the neighbors:
Guitar > Pedals > Amp > speaker cable to DI-box with speaker simulation (Palmer the Junction) > Sound interface > iPad/Garageband
The DI-box also goes through to an attenuator (Weber minimass) which feeds the signal to the speaker (which I can choke if I want to). Only speaker cables used here as well.
Well, that's it and I love it.
I put the focusrite Itrack or whatever it's called on my Christmas list for this year, hopefully parents or GF get me it. Didn't think of di but now thinking go getting a di box too. What interface are you using?

Phantasmagorovich recommended it some post earlier.
I downloaded it. Is pretty cool but using it with an amp may cause bitter feedback. So somehow you have to make the sounds with headphones, mute the mic and then plug it to an amp...

Apogee Jam - it's cheap and simple and good enough for quick demos. But you have a lot more options with the itrack of course.

Tabletop, you can route devices like you can in Reason plus it works with the new iMPC! Plus it's free (have to buy iMPC separately though):

It IS really impressive.
BUT you can only really play it with headphones (old-schooley ones without mic). It needs the mic to be ultra-sensitive so that it will feedback really quick. And in a very unpleasant way too. You can record loops though so you could make a beat and amplify later on.
Sorry for repeating what uni just wrote, but it is important.
