I'm normally the resident powerviolence freak, so it's good to find others who still worship the genre.

I'm in an old crust/grind band that's been around for 24 years. I only joined a few months ago, but we're going to be taking on a new direction of music once I finish learning some of the old songs. It'll be a mixture of bands like Doom, Discharge, and Extreme Noise Terror. I am going to be adding some pv elements in my writing so it will be reminiscent of bands like Dropdead.

To be fair, I think Kurt Cobain wanted to be The Pixies more.

True, but they did try to steal Dale Crover like 3 times, before they got Dave.

FUCK. I knew I was forgetting something important. I'd say Sleep and Electric Wizard are tied in the top five.

Yo'.

We're bestfriends now.

Cancel that. We're gay now.

Late to the party but I am in full agreement with both of these lists. Although I do kindof like Crossed Out a bit more than Hatred Surge maybe.

But goddamn Horse Latitudes urggggggggggggggggggggg so good
Jerk Kerouac (harsh noise)
Kalimantan (improv not-jazz shambles)
ZDICM (space-drone-synth-thing)

I personally think the list is lacking Fuck on the Beach, but that's just me.

What about a top five "modern" powerviolence list? Get Destroyed, Chest Pain, Gets Worse, Weekend Nachos, Human Junk, Water Torture (obviously), ACxDC, Sex Prisoner

I'd also like to give an honorable mention to Despise You.

My personal top 5 'modern' PV acts:

1. The Endless Blockade
2. Iron Lung
3. Weekend Nachos
4. California Love
5. Water Torture

Oh, fuck. I just realized I forgot to add Conan to my list of stoner bands. My whole list is flawed.
