That is very cool! Did you get Gold Astro or a different color? I was looking at E-Bay a while back and saw a color i hadn't seen before - Silver Astro! Was pretty cool.
i got silver astro which looks more like champagne now. the 12" tom floating for cheap on the 'bay belongs to the kit i bought. i'm guessing yours has the strange granite coating inside too?

also, do you mind if i post up the tension rod sizes for the drums? i just did some serious research and bought up a few lots to find originals for my kit.

Post a whatever you please. Sounds great. That Silver Astro looks very cool. Mine do have the granite paint inside, too.

so to start this off, here's my ludwig astro kit:

...and now onto tension rod sizes! so, as i said before i bought a shitload of these things to get my kit in working order. i was lucky enough to have 85% of all the original hardware so it was all up to finding a match. simple enough, right? well, not when people don't specify how they're measuring the damn things. is it the whole rod or just the collar and below? you'll never know until you get a bag full of useless rods.

i can confirm that:
16" floor toms and 14" supraphonic snares both used 2 3/8" rods from the collar down.
12" and 13" tom toms both use 1 7/8" rods from the collar down. i've been getting away with using 1 5/8" but later this week i'll fix that.

will update this with measurements of my bass drum rods but that will have to wait until i have cash for heads. perhaps 14" floor tom measurements if i can find one for cheap too. hopefully somebody finds this useful, as this is one of the few interesting threads that pops up on ludwig standards. you don't know how many times i saw this thread while searching for sizes.
