Any ideas for mods?

So I populated the new board, re-wired everything and nothing happens. No LED, nothing. I'm going to buy a multimeter tomorrow. This shit is driving me fucking nuts! I will get this motherfucker to work!

How'd this go? If it worked the first day, and not the next, my bet is a bad connection somewhere. Likely the switches. With a little bit of fresh solder on the tip of your iron, reheat the lugs/connections for a couple seconds, you should see the solder melt. Hopefully that will help. Are you using stranded or solid core wire? Looks kind of like the copper solid core stuff from radio shack...solid core is a little reluctant to take hold.

Robot devils gain is fixed. The dials control volume of the dirty signal, power starvation, and volume of the sub octave signal.

So after much frustration, I decide to plug this in last night. Not sure why either. The LED's do not work, so I wasn't expecting much. I plugged it in and there was this horrible static type distortion. Instead of just shutting the pedal off, I moved the knobs around....I realized I had the pots wired backwards. Even after reading it and looking, and double checking. I still managed to wire the fucking pots backwards!!!! Total facepalm moment here. My fucking GOD!

Anyway, the pedal works. Sounds INSANE. The only problem is the LED's are still not working. I fucked around with it this morning and just don't get why the fucker aren't working. Unless of course I fried them again. Here's some gut shots. I know it's hard to tell where the wires are going, but does anything stand out to you guys about why the LED's don't work? My next step is getting some more 2.2k resistors and LED's.

Hmmm...I suppose it's possible. I'll have to look at the directions again. At this point, anything is possible. :picard:

Don't look at the directions (only time I'll prob ever say that)
Look at your LEDs. Longer leg is positive. This should go to power, not the switch. If you can't tell leg length, cause they were trimmed, try looking at the side of the LED.

The left side of this LED is negative. I know this because the anvil, which looks like a negative "-" (if you use a little imagination).

There's also a little flat spot on the negative side of an LED

Dude you were totally right about that one! Fuck! I didn't even realize it made a difference which way the LED's went. Have never had an issue yet with LED's so, that's really useful info! One of the is working! I think the second one is fried. Damn LED's seem so fragile. At least now I know how to properly do it. So pending getting a new LED, this bitch is done! Thanks so much for all the help in here! Aen and wife, you two are awesome for doing these kits! I look forward to the next one! (many a baby thunder....maybe please....lol)

This too. Though with 3mm leds, it's sometimes non-existent.

Glad you got it all figured out jwar!

congrats man! its a good feeling to get it working and learn all this stuff. LED's are not exactly fragile IMO. you can never kill an LED from too much voltage or wiring it up backwards. the ONLY thing that kills an LED is connecting it to V+ and GND the correct way but missing the resistor. a LED wired backwards becomes a switch that turns off and protects everything in line with the LED. basically an LED backwards is like a wire disconnected.

So after fiddling around with it, the second footswitch LED still doesn't work. Not sure why. I broke out my Multimeter, but lost the directions. LOL! So I don't have any idea on how to actually use it. I mean I know how, but don't know what I'm looking for. I'm thinking it's the actual LED. I just have a gut feeling about it. I could be wrong. I dunno.

Got everything working! Turned out the LED was fucked somehow! So happy!

Thanks again for all the help fellas! Again, I'm ready for the next one!
