Basically seperate the titles... Anyone with under 150posts is in Category 1 (This helps get the interest of new members and shows that we care :hello: ), Post counts of 150 - 1000 are in category 2, and so on... That way the top posters in ILF can battle it out for a Baddest of the Bad kind of title. I think this idea would help make it more competitive in each category.

YES!!! This idea is perfect. I propose one voting thread for each category, people submit their, or somebody else on the forum's, board and if somebody 'seconds' their submission then it get's put up for the vote.

I've never taken part of or followed any pedalboard contest, so I don't know how they're typically run, but that's how I'd do it.

So is everyone submitting their board in a new thread, and then people voting on eachothers...or do we really have to go through alllllllll those pages?

I'm glad you guys like my idea! What's the most options you can have on a poll? I was thinking if we start a sticky thread where people only post their nomination pics and the post count at time of posting that pic (deleting any other posts just to keep it clean) and let it go until the end of the year and then compile the info from that thread into 4 sticky threads one for each category. In each thread we post the pics and boards owners names along with a poll including every submitted boards owners name then have a mod lock the thread so you can only go in and look at the boards and cast your vote. Give everyone a 1 month voting time then publish the results in a thread where everyone can comment displaying the contest results and a little blurb from each person. It's alot of work but i think well worth the end result. I can see if you think the no posting in the threads may be rude but it would really help keep the process clean and easy. It also doesnt mean people couldnt start their own discussion threads.

Email submissions would probably keep things tidy.
Anyone wishing to enter submits a board and their user name via email and an eventual poll thread complete with pics is made.

Each round can be done in heats if poll options become a problem.

Also are we still talking about nominating other boards/no personal submissions prior to official voting? I sorta feel that turns this thing into more of a popularity contest than it already is.
Wouldn't the eventual voting for a board sorta be... Nominating it? ;)

The problem that i saw with this when it was done over at Ultimate-guitar is that it pretty much turned into "who is the best photographer/who has the fanciest camera". It kinda creates an unfair advantage between people. Just something to think about.

Other than that i love this type of competion, love to see some fancy pedalboards.

Hmmm well you could have everyone that wants to play email them [to you?] then post the picts with no user names and have peeps vote...

Inttttteresting solution... You guys have some good ideas.
I like the idea of a blind vote.

I agree about the photog comment but it can't really be avoided.
Can we agree no phoshop elements? If you want to make labels that's ok but no fancy graphics or borders.

That's probably the best way around it, can't be helped that some people are gonna have better cameras.

And a good solution for could be to have subgenres within the genres to have like "best noise board, best punk etc"

Yeah... blind votes sound a nice thing if we feel that necessary. But :idk: many of the members - at least the long term members - are recognized by their custom pedals. Except for those who flip their pedals all the time

I agree NO PHOTOSHOPPING - should be self explanatory
NO PHOTOSHOP ELEMENTS other than labels, if felt necessary.

Subcategories seemed to me a little much first but if they are felt useful or needed to tag the pedalboards in addition to categories then why not :) might be a good idea. But there will be a shitload of votes to count if we are voting for each tag in each category :erm: so... we should probably next decide on voting. I though about keeping it simple: one member, one vote? We have to strech to a one member, one vote per category. Surely more than that is too much ,right?

So that means something like what I posted in the board thread is not allowed. But can you work on the photos by adjusting colour etc?

Emailing the pics seems to be a good solution for handling this. Maybe whoever collects the pictures will simply photoshop a number in them so that it's obvious which one is which. Does someone know of an external site where it would be possible to do the voting in one round? Otherwise this might get out of hand quickly.
