In no particular order:

Russian Circles - Empros
PJ Harvey - Let England Shake
Helms Alee - Weatherhead
Hanged Man and the Groovy Gloom - Somnia
Big Business - Quadruple Single
Nights - A Tangle of Arms

This was my list until the new Secret Chiefs 3 single came out and melted my brain: http://downloads.webofmimicry.com/album/saptarshi-radar

It could well be my favourite record of the year. Their new 'DOOM' medley is unreal. Unreal.

All right - I just checked them out and downloaded BBNG. Very, VERY happy that I did so. Nice job fellas!

I enjoyed Attention Please a lot more, there were parts of the new Heavy Rocks that felt almost...J-Pop??? Wata should sing more.

Missing Pieces and Aileron (with Aaron Turner on guitar some vox) were awesome though. Especially live.

Heavy Rocks II felt way too Boris-by-the-numbers for me.

I actually haven't been really excited for a Boris record since Smile.

Crotchthrottle - Everything Odder Than Everything Else

Russian Circles - Empros
Larry and His Flask - All That We Know

Ringo Deathstarr - Colour Trip

Have a Nice Life - Time of Land EP
Thurston Moore - Demolished Thoughts
Mogwai - Hardcore Will Never Die, but You Will
Mister Heavenly - Out Of Love (liked it more than the new Man Man)

the only new thing i heard that i really cared about was the Radiohead; i found it weirdly impenetrable after [i]In Rainbows,{/i] but suspect that the missing download tracks not on the official CD fix that. when my ex brought home the Bill Callahan, saying it was the first new thing she'd liked enough to buy in five years, and i listened to it and heard nothing other than well-crafted backing tracks, i knew we had nothing left in common and our relationship was doomed. that's my 2011.
