I ended up getting a TC Vortex to replace my Polychorus as a flanger. I found that it wasn't nearly as subtle and most settings completely took over the sound of my guitar. It took a bit of tweaking, but I was able to find a couple really nice sweet spots. Aside from the rate knob, I'll likely set-it-and-forget-it, so it has earned it's spot on my board. I haven't gotten around to trying out the toneprints, so I might have some more surprises to come.

I have a Paul Gilbert Airplane flange and love it. I love the regen feature on it. I would love a mixmic dyna flange though if I could get my hands on one ;)

i like a frozen rate flange, so it's almost like pitched reverb.

I love my Flanger Hoax, yet still secretly pine in my heart of hearts for an EQD flanger.

Yeah, that's pretty cool. I wish some builder (besides EHX) would make a good flanger with a filter matrix mode. I think I've said in another thread, if you zero out all the controls on a flanger and then use a short delay after it it creates a sort of faux reverb. I never actually use dedicated reverb. So, it's a pretty handy trick.

The BF-2 does it pretty well. Just turn the rate all the way down, and then set the manual knob at your chosen pitch/whatever. Helps to turn up the oscillation trimpot.

Yeah, I've got a BF-2B and it's not too bad. Some flangers can sweep pretty slowly, but there's nothing quite like disengaging the sweep completely.

In other news, I picked up a Vortex as well. I've only played it twice so far, but I'm pretty impressed. A lot of flange for the money. Haven't messed with the TonePrint yet, still fooling around with the stock sounds. (Have you downloaded the software, Cody_Pole?)

At first I thought it was a little bright sounding when I played it without any dirt, but it isn't really. When played with the dirt on it doesn't muddy up the tone too much. Still pretty crisp and articulate sounding. If I want clean flange tones I think I'd switch it into the tape mode. Ah, the warmth. I can just feel it.

I found a hella wicked double tracking setting: (switch set to flanger), Speed anywhere before noon, Depth maxed, Feedback & Delay both at noon.

Seems like a pretty versatile little flanger and it's purple.

I tried but it said I had to update the firmware in the pedal, tried that and nothing soo I'm not too impressed with that feature
I also love that its purple (my favorite color!)

Did you e-mail TC Electronic to see what was up?

I still haven't really fooled around with the TonePrint. Still exploring the un-TonePrint modes.
