really? i love mine. it doesn't necessarily do everything i want from a chorus, but i like what it does; i'll grant you that i use the flanger and pitch mod settings more than the chorus, though.
as far as hating effects, i don't totally dismiss anything as useless; what i tend to despise are particular cliched uses of effects, e.g. 70s-style wide phaser sweeps with a ~1 sec. duty cycle, the heavy-metal Big Annoying Distortion + chorus lead sound a la Zakk, or the SRV combination of Toob Screamer and rotating speaker. there are several kinds of effects that i like when other people use them, but which just don't work for me and how i play...in general i don't like phasing and prefer flanging or chorus, and can't do a thing with a wah other than imitate Jimi Hendrix. i'm also pretty burnt out on self-oscillating fuzz.

My main complaint is it is too easy to overload giving me "wonderful" digital distortion, then there is that the actual chorus sound is "that" sound you hear on country and "jazz" recordings way too much. The flanger setting is ok but I have a old DOD I got for $25 that I like the sound of better... even if the DOD is too over the top most of the time I think it's overall sound is richer

Fuck that dude. As a bassist who uses effects, I fuckin hate that video.
Full of aforementioned "80's cheese" plus the Digitech Whammy, probabley the corniest
pedal to ever be put out by anyone
Doug Wimblish can suck my cock, then go out and by a fuckin Dean Guitar

I did not like an amp of theirs I am borrowing from a friend, but I don't know what's up with the effects.. But the tape-delay on the amp I am borrowing is turned on even when all effects are turned off, so I must not forget to twist that knob, which is very irritating..
What I've heard from the effects is pretty good..
I don't like pods.. But maybe I am just to dumb to get a good sound out of them

I very much agree with you on the video, but I also very much disagree about the Whammy. There are some awesome uses of that pedal in music... and I'm not talking Tom Morello.

Don;t know what you think of Tom, but I think his playing is awesome, pretty influential at the time imho..

I actually really like some delay / reverb stuff they make
I don't like the idea of parameters that aren't always exact in turn with the controls.
That's the downside of saving presets.
I move knobs so much and how the pedal reacts to knob turning that I find their XX4 series are a bit off putting for me.
I hate modulation a lot of the time unless used for maybe only... 2-5 seconds.
I don't like the way that everything done with the same knob position sounds similar.
I like dynamic and manual (treadle or light sensor) type modulation such as envelope filters and the sort just because when you play different, they sound different.

I think he's great, but he's one of those guys that's either loved or hated. His use of the Whammy is probably the example that most people immediately think about. I just want to spread the Whammy love, and show that there are also other great examples.
