Saw those for the third time earlier this month (first time since Tony left), and they've never failed to blow me away.
They're all really nice guys too! And I'm not at all biased because Rory uses a feedback looper I built him...

Also check out their friends and lablemates, Adebisi Shank. Both technically brilliant and an awesome mastery of effects.

Though they usually get pigeonholed in with the surf camp the Ventures have some most serious instrumental LP's with " The Ventures in Space " being their masterpiece in my opinion.

This
Though they were by large a cover band, they're great musicians with some ridiculously hard to play (and remember) guitar parts. Just try to play any of their tunes on Live in Japan '65 at the tempo they blew through them at.

my favorite song. my favorite band.
Its not like, the proggy prog metal stuff that's been posted, but this song gets me on an emotional level. They keyboard solo near the middle-end is my favorite moment in music ever.

Frustrating that there is a vimeo embedding thing but it doesn't work.
This Will Destroy You - "Communal Blood"
Need to see them live, this performance is intense.

I have heard the live stuff from Japan in 65 and they are blazing on that stuff.
They do play a good bit faster than the recorded versions.
It is a shame that there is not more live stuff available from that era but what is around is fantastic.

Practically instrumental (save for the spoken part in the beginning) and definitely intense in my opinion....
