... I'd really like to see more discussion on this one.

eatyourguitar's first posts (starting from the DIY projects thread) seem a little apeshit to me (no offense!), then all the follow ups were "you're just naive!" or seemingly off-subject stuff about Hitler. The rebuttals were just "that's bullshit!" with no real info or substantive counter-arguments.

Basically, this thread is useless. Fuck the lot of you*.

hipster  .

I've said it before and i'll say it again, hating things for being hipster is very hipster.

Liking things for being cool is anti-hipster... damn near the only thing you can do to get out of the oxymoron that is the hipster.

hipster stuff is confusing. what makes a hipster thing hipster?

i kinda wish that word would cease to exist :joy:

As do I!

As far as I gather (and i've only recently become aware of this phenomenon) Hipsters hate things that are mainstream and like to be individual... however they fail quite incredibly as they hate so much what they like has become mainstream and there are now hundreds of them... they're just your general douchey teenager that wears homemade clothes or stuff from charity shops (Not that that's bad, I kinda like that stuff) and only like bands "You probably wouldn't have heard of" just to be individual.

Kinda like indie used to be individual and sorta homegrown, untill it became a fashion, only these people fail to see it.

I find this sitch to be confusing. When I look at the ipod of a friend who's into mainstream or whatever, I haven't heard of half the artists they have on there, so I really just don't know about that.

:idk:

No no, it's not having the bands you haven't heard of, it's claiming too, i'm sure we all have music others don't know but it's the superiority of "Oh you wont know them, they're this underground band that I know of cause i'm friends with the bassist... "

This is only what I have been told of though, don't hold me to hipster physcology.

WOW How did I miss all this!
This is what I get for playing music instead of talking about it!
eatyourguitar you are way off Maybe people are attacking you because you attacked my Prophet.
You are way off on Crowley and I seriously doubt you have read any of his writings. Crowley did not paint. At least not very well.

first I want to apologize for offending anyone. you all have the right to believe whatever you want to believe and I was out of line to start shit in completed DIY. what bothers me most though is how people handle it. why would I want to post here if everything I say is going to be ignored or flamed. you can say that my tactic is calling people naive but you all have your tactics for flaming me and that seems to be socially acceptable. I gave up already. I'd much rather keep all of you as friends so we can talk about pedals. lets just forget about it. do we really need to be at each others throats on a pedal website? of course your gonna quote me and flame it some more. go ahead. get it over with so we can move on.

P.S. the irony here is I was just gonna ask everyone about building an IC muff and I didn't even get to ask cause I was so passionately bashing someone who people obviously have a lot of respect for. I guess thats my punishment.

This is my understanding as well. I've read a ton of books on the Third Reich, and everything that is occultish or really out-there wacky shit is from Himmler. I think he was easily the craziest of the lot, surpassing even Hitler himself. Himmler was also the source of all the Norse gods bullshit that sprang up.

There was also this one meeting (those guys kept ridiculous notes on everything) in which Himmler suggested some kind of really heinous mass murder plan of concentration camp inmates, and Hitler commented something to the effect of "Don't you think that is a little excessive?"

So yeah, if Hitler himself is telling you that you've gone too far, you're officially the most evil fucker ever.

Really, majority of Nazi movement were just avarage Protestant Christians living up to the Zeitgeist. Like everybody else were doing, and a lot of racial issues were on for long after the Nazi regime was put off, all around the Western world - but I digress.

The Nazi connection doesn't make the Christians any worse people, does it? Nor does Christianity give any extra grimness to the Nazi regime terror, does it? :idk:

The Thule Society, as intriguing as it is, always remained a fringe project of Goebbels for the Aryan cultural renovation. I can't tell how much influence Heidegger had on Goebbels, if any, but it's possible - and it doesn't reduce even Heideggers philosophical significance either, does it? :?:

But any Masonic activity, including any fringe Masonic orders like Crowleys O.T.O. or the German version Fraternitas Saturni were NOT seen as the Aryan choise of the Thule Society, rather they were all suppressed by the proper ideological machinery. Nor were the Nazis politics ever considered a smart wagon to try jump in by O.T.O. or F.S.. There was no reason to, thelemite circles had their own - though very small - wagon already by then, among the rest of the Western esoteric societies.

Besides, Crowley hardly can be seen as a Brother of the Black Lodge, that is a Black magician, from his point of view, and he most certainly did not worship Satan nor serve any Gods in that sense.

And he mindcontroll issue? Crowleys famous sense of humor. Anybody who has spent more than a few hours on Crowleys books and read more about the subject knows that it was his personal evil joke to poke fun at the goody two shoes Dion Fortune who was being apalled by Crowley already. They (A.C., D.F. and a third party, who? Can't remember right now.) were discussing the English occult society uniting its power for anti-Nazi ritual, Crowley popped that the situation was already been handled by him. :erm:
