Funny. Over here, they're just now figuring out what Halloween is. Spent all last month explaining "trick or treat" in my classes.

So the US gets Domo, and Japan gets Halloween -- a weird trade of sorts. :wha?:

(then again, everything over here is weird....) :bob:

Well, I was driving to class last night and stopped by a local Lawson's (quickie-mart) here for a milk tea. It was at that twilight time during last few minutes of dusk, and over the mountains the crescent moon and two planets were in a bizarre juxtaposition I'd never seen before.

I was reminded of a joke someone made that Japan was not really on this Earth, but was actually a holographic projection of an alien world that was being beamed down here. Then I looked around down by the waters' edge (we're close to the sea) at all these strange people running around doing strange things....

Yeah, I think I'm on another planet sometimes.

Aaaah, that sounds like it would have been nice.... :)

But the only MMORPG-thingie that I've been on in quite a while is Second Life. And not even that more than a few times in the past months. I was originally exploring whether it was worth playing gigs online there. Still might try that, but got sidetracked (as usual).

There are places online there that actually set up virtual gigs. They schedule concerts like normal clubs do, and your avatar can attend a performance in the same manner as you'd go to any other concert in real life. The venues will sometimes offer them for no charge to the patrons. Sometimes there's a cover (just like RL), but you pay in Second Life money. As with any other gig, if you're the performer you work out a percentage of the door or a flat payment. I didn't get very far into it, but there's supposed to be a method of converting Lindens to RL USD.

As a performer, you can actually stream the audio you're playing into the game, and everybody who is attending the concert will hear it. Your avatar will make motions as if it's playing too.

So, you can share your music through Second Life and quite possibly even make some cash doing it too.
