I guess liability issues. If you send it in broken, then they tell you its broken, you could say that they broke it.

Surely there could be some form of waiver, no? Would love to try out a Hovercraft amp sometime. I swig between seriously wanting one and then not. On most of the demos there's a weird skronky high end thing going on that pisses me off. Hard to describe it. Seeing as it's on most of the demos, it's quite possibly just due to the fact that they use an iPhone to record their vids.
Still really curious to see some gutshots of these things. Are they modded or completely gutted?

I'd like to find that out myself. I'd be interested to see. I think when I get the Verellen Jet City I'm going to open it up and see what Ben did to it out of curiosity

I would have been sending them in a dead amp chassis + cabinet with the knowledge it was dead and they were building an entirely new amp, but oh well

All the more reason for me to eventually learn to build my own tube amps.

Yeah. I wish they could do something like that too. I've got a Valve Junior I'd like hotrodded

I've got the Supro replacement guts (from Watts Audio) for a Valve Junior sitting in my workshop.. still haven't modded mine. And my Valve Jr is essentially dead. (This is my last one.. I went through like 5 and modded them different ways then sold them.. in college dorms I had a stack of Valve Jr's

)
I need to finish that for garage rock toans (I even got it where it uses a 6973 as the power tube)

I've got one that I added a Master Volume to, added the JP1 mod, swapped out the speaker and transformer. Sounds a little better than the stock one. My other one is a V1 which I haven't touched yet. I was thinking of dropping one of those boards in with the nicer parts, a Supro one would be fucking cool!

Yeah this is a V1, first run of the boards, with closed back, that I got from MF a few months as a scratch-n-dent after they sold out of the first run. a little odd compared to the others. Worked fine until I tried to mod it for more power filtering and a tone switch, and I installed a switch to change the output impedance. Something went wrong but it lights up so the transformer should drive the new Supro board fine!

I dunno if it'd be his thing but maybe try Mr Dunwich?? All his stuff is seriously top notch!!
It would be cool if there was someone out there that would gut and rebuild amps by request. Send off a VHT Special 6 and get a mini Matamp or something back.

Just popped the Delta Pro 12a into my Verellen cab in anticipation of the Jet City head. Set a drone in B to 65hz and I'm breaking the speaker in now

What'd you have in it before skully, different/higher wattage Delta Pro?

Yeah. It was a Delta 12LFC instead of the Pro 12A.
Different ohm rating- the 12LFC is 4 ohms, the Pro 12A is 8 ohms.
The Delta 12LFC is rated 100w more, while the Pro 12A has a larger magnet and bigger high end.
In the diagram, the blue is the old LFC, the red is the new Pro 12A. Still breaking in the 12A, but after I do I will compare them!
