tell me about it. i was astonished at what a Fender Jazz Bass pickguard cost, IIRC over $40. i wound up buying an Allparts guard that was something like half as expensive and whose tortoiseshell pattern i liked better.

sorry Chiefies, i space out during pup and pup guard talk (NOT a reflection on the quality contained therin, i'm just an uneducated idjit about How The Basses Work so it's lost on me) so just saw this.

how much did the screen end up costing? i wouldn't mind staying around a hundy to fix it, 'cause i'd planned on using this fone as an at work or practice vid recording/ipod thing whenever i upgrade.

There are a couple youtube videos I watched that step you through it, and that was enough for me to get it right. I'll try to find you the same youtube vids I watched.

Here's the best vid I used. There was one other one that I watched just to double check the process and make sure they do all the same things (they do). The only comment I have in addition to this video is that if you use a hair dryer to melt the glue, it takes longer than the 5-6 minutes he quotes. I couldn't get the glass to budge until I hit the 10-12 minute range. And prying all the leftover broken shards of glass is honestly what took most of the time. At least half of the hour I spent doing this was spent prying the glass off.
