I blame Annie and the damn Coachella stream. Anyone have one of these? Does it sound as good when mortals play through it?

I really wanted to like the mastotron, but it just didn't jive with me.... I dunno. That was a while ago - maybe I gotta give it another chance.

Just picked up another Crazy Horse (my first is a non-gooped clone with top-mounted jacks), for what is the equivalent of $110US.
At that price, I couldn't afford not to buy it. Didn't help that I saw Justin Vernon using his on the live Coachella stream.

How is the crazy horse? I've always been intrigued because that massive neil young sound is basically my favourite tone ever.

I wish I could find "Le Noise" in a box.

That album sound is like a house full of pedals and amps and stereo chains stuff. If there was one box that did it all....

I'm a dreamer.

To drop dough on new hi hats, snare, heads and mutes, or not to drop dough on that jank?

I have just had one of those AHFUCKIT moments... I got a beast body off of ebay... I know the record idea is cool and will still do something with it but I am sick of trying to make necks and bodies that don't go together work..

Depends. Drum heads aren't too crazy expensive, so you could always get those and forgo the rest.
Hi hats are so freaking expensive.

I've had my eyes on a pair of Meinl Extra Dry 13" hi hats but no one has 'em in stock to actually try out in person. I know they'll sound mint, but you always gotta try before buying when it comes to cymbals (cause no two cymbals are identical).
What kind of mutes were you considering? I used Moongels for a while, but now I prefer that sustained and rumbling sound out of my toms.
I think my next snare will be a tiny 14x3 from Pearl, so I can get my jazz on.
On an unrelated note, I've gotten phantom GAS from the Catalinbread RAH. It sounds pretty damn good...but I still want a RAT/RAT clone...

I'm going to get some Dream Bliss 14" hats.
I'm using moongels right now for regular dampening, but I'm going to invest in those Vic Firth mutes so I can practice at a lower volume.
Also,
THIS GUY is the snare I'm jonesing for, but I think I have to sell a bass first.

I've heard nothing but good things about the Dream Bliss series...I should try some out.
That snare looks awesome! I've always thought wood hoops were kickass.

Neither my clone or the actual one have arrived yet, but a friend has one that I got to try for an afternoon.. it pretty much
nails Young's live tones. It's an angry, noisy beast of a thing. Very versatile too, can do a lot more than what it was originally intended for.
