I actually put it in DADGAD over the weekend when playing through the 'Smoke and left it there. Picked it up a couple days later and tuned it back up and the B and E strings are buzzing like crazy >12th fret. It seemed to get better with the increased tension overnight, but when I have the cash, the StayTrem and a bone nut are on the list.

Gotta budget for my recording gear first, though. Hoping that it remains playable until then.

I got mine set up/modded a bit today! Added a fender TBX tone pot instead of the strangle and reassigned the strangle switch to a coil tap for the Alumitone. It honestly made all of the difference in the world. Taking the strangle cap out sounded like I took a blanket off my amp and upgrading the pots was crucial.

Here's mine, a Telemaster-style VI that I build myself:

I never understood why they put that strangle in, in the first place.

My Kunkle neck arrived and it's beautiful. I sanded the coat off the back & installed nut. Nut needed some sanding to fit in case anyone wondering.

The P-90 is my favorite of the three! It only ended up there by accident (long story), but I'm glad it's there now.

Almost there. Hotrails humbucker, Eldred wiring.
Kunkle neck--needs a vintage tint.

Cool. I've got a p90 burning a hole in my pocket. Can't wait to use it on something.

:thumb: P90 in a tele is a cool way to go, I have on in mine which at one time was the original Tele/dano bass VI but is now living as a guitar again.

How are you liking that neck? What did you have the seller do as far as frets, finish, etc? I really want a VI. I have a tele I cannot sell.
I love teles. I really want a VI. This option is looking better and better.

That's a long fucking neck right there, haha. I wonder what it would look like with a shorter neck and the bridge pulled further back.

I dig it. The grain is very pretty & I had good results w/ frets. It's unfinished. I recommend Tru Oil for finishing. Rub it on with 000 fine steel wool; rub it off with a dry piece of 000 steel wool. The result is a sealed inconspicuous beautiful matte finish that feels like sanded. I've read that if you keep going it gets very glossy / sticky so stop after one coat.

I didn't give him instructions (didn't know that was an option). The feel is more old school--rounder, like a baseball bat, unlike Strat necks. Unless there's a strat neck that's hefty and round. I had to wait 2 or 3 weeks I don't recall but it's worth it. No complaints.

I would recommend getting more than one nut in case you screw it up like I did. It's playable but I took too much off, now have to replace it for it to be perfect. Also, I got grooved saddles because my bridge wasn't a drop in replacement, therefore 1mm off center. Grooved saddles resolved that.

I'm almost done with this one just have to replace drop cap & pots. Wiring will be: vol + tone, vol only, straight to jack. Flipped controls are bomb. edit: string spacing is closer than what I'm used to, and the thicker gauge LaBellas don't help.

Yes it is but I play 34" basses so it's ok. Kunkle makes a 28" scale too. Try it.
