DFAM incoming! Thanks Antlerface! Now I need to find somewhere with Moog's 3-tier end pieces in stock

Hey behndy

Do I remember you selling off Sapel when you got Marbles? Any pros and cons to either besides for the layout? I’m itching to pull the trigger on one of the two in the next few days.

What're you all doing for interesting melodic sequencing that has more than 1/4 note pulses. I'd like to sustain some notes and maybe make some 1/8 notes but I can't seem to make that happen super easily. The ER-101 looks like it'll do it and prob the Eloquencer but I'm looking for other ideas. Ive considered the beatstep pro but I'd like to keep it euro. please help
Well, Teletype basically killed any interest I could have in sequencers (though it does much, much more than sequencing). It is open by nature, and even though each scene has four patterns (arrays) of 64 values that are arranged in a tracker-like fashion you do need one or two lines of code to make it behave as a sequencer. But then, the possibilities are almost infinite.

Once again, this module is wonderful for people (like me) who do like coding and thinking in terms of logic and structure and for whom a (qwerty) keyboard is some sort of natural input device but if that's not your cup of tea then ignore this recommendation :).

Also, you do not have to feed a steady clock in any sequencer, just using some triggers-fucker module (Peaks has a great mode for that for example) between the clock source and the sequencer can lead to good results. Same thing with logic.

To get gates out of triggers with any sequencer you can consider using any module that has/behaves as a flip flop : feed the sequencer's trig out to the flip flop and then one out of two triggers will make the gate high and the next ones will make it go low.

yessuh! Sapel is really neat, and has a few more outs for rando CV than Marbles, but fuccccck. Marbles is sooooooo GOOD. the main thing for me is that the gates are tempo sync'd, so even if randoms, they're sub/mult divisions of the main tempo. Sapel is NOT. and i didn't ever use the white/pink/chartreuse noise outs so...... didna miss.

plus the Marbles can be a quantized capture'able Turing Machine plus.

Marbles is wayyyyy better.

at least for me.

also, just running a LFO or a random from Pam's into Penrose is a blasssssssst. super digging it.

can't wait till i get the Muxxer Buxxer in.

Penrose is a module that I regret selling. It was super useful! I definitely agree an LFO or a random into Penrose was magic. I loved being able to do that and decide which notes came out

Also, looks like I'll be rocking the Mother 32 and DFAM with the Field Kit and Field Kit FX and this:

I stuffed Morphagene, uBurst, Cinnamon, and Pams New Workout in a little 42hp Erica case and I'm having a blaaaaasst. Paired with an OP-1? Yus

murrrr just cancelled my pre-order at Ctrl-Mod and ordered one a Just Friends from Control Voltage. i love Ctrl-Mod too, but they said it will be (they THINK) a couple more weeks until JF's are in stock, Volts has them now. so. WOOT.

I'm thinking about hitting up a TipTop Z8000 sequencer.

I like that it has so many outputs and inputs to make a mess out of.

My goal is to sequence melodies which, as others have noted, the Voltage Block does not do particularly well.

Anyone here messed with that before?

Or, is the thing I'm looking for actually a quantizer?

That... sounds like FUN.

WOOT indeed. I love Control as well, and they are in Brooklyn (where Whimsical Raps are based), so I don't know why their stock lags behind other folks. :idk:

I believe the Z8000 is not a quantized sequencer, if you want to do scalar melodies with it you would need a quantizer to go with it. Writing precise melodies on it might be more guesswork than certain sequencers that have some sort of scale input interface. It does look like a very fun sequencer though. If had more room, money, etc I would love to own one.

yah. every time i'm JUST about to order one, i play with the sequencing and scale options in FLXS and just. murrrrr. can't. love the design except for that though.

right? so many awesome modular selling company spots (DetMod is still my favorite because REASONS), weird that one so close to Manny's isna stocked yet.
