Random Sunday morning musings on the past two pages...

- Drone; ...whatever...
- String Cheese Incident; my good friend's brother-in-law is their bassist
- Jam bands; I have mixed feelings...Allman Bros, Dave Matthews Band, moe. are good, usually; Grateful Dead shows were fun, but part of that fun was the (stoned out of their freakin' GOURDS!!!) crowd itself; Phish and String Cheese..I dunno. And is Primus a jam band? Their shows are usually include extended jams, but lumping them in with DMB, GD, etc just seems wrong.
- RIP Duck...you will be missed.

Haha,...typical reaction to the mention of Jambands. I'm certainly not gonna try change anyone's mind,...it's an acquired taste. Most people can't acquire it. In the 90's when I was mr. serious metalhead asshole,....Jambands were pussy music.

My wife is going to Bonnaroo this year; so please no bombing the event.

I'm totally NOT jealous of the wife going. Fucking place is going to be full of idiots. That said; It's not really a Jamband festival anymore anyway.

I've seen Phish and Trey a number of times and had a great time but that is a portion of my life I left behind. I immersed myself in Phish's music for the first part of the 21st century. My conclusions;....I love the music,....can listen to all their studio albums up to Roundroom,...the Live stuff,...I have to really be in the mood for and often times I can't listen to an entire show front to back. That said there are some Gems in the live catalog,...but usually it's a well performed song that isn't on any of the studio records.

Can't stand Phisheads or the lot culture that follows Phish around. Yeah it would have been great to have seen all their shows on a summer tour or something like that,...but my parents aren't rich nor did they set me up with a trust fund,....nor am I willing to selfishly take advantage of people.

Primus a Jamband? Well Les is certainly embraced by the Jamband community thanks to Oysterhead,...but I hardly ever considered Primus to be a jamband.

This song seems to be appropriate.
Duck Dunn doing what he does better than most.

He is/was one of the 4 bassists who inspired my music and playing.
He taught me to lock the groove and let the music flow.

Primus is a jam band. And fuck primus.

i don't mind in the middle...it's when they're at the beginning and ending of band names that it irritates me. i don't want a name with an extraneous goddamned question mark confusing people and making them think i can't type.

i remember when i went to one of those HORDE shows because Neil Young and Crazy Horse were headlining and Primus were on the bill. i hate Primus. well, i don't hate them, because i really don't HATE music, but i don't like them at all. Claypool irritates me so much i'd want to punch him if i didn't suspect that he'd find that satisfying, so i want to tickle him instead. i was there with a friend and every time they went into one of their funk riffs we started singing "Give Up The Funk." it made things much more enjoyable.

I never thought of it as pussy music even in my most "MeTaL" of times.. I just don't like it.. but I don't like bluegrass or fusion either... then again I was told the other day that my taste in music makes people want to kill bunnies..

As a person who is content to listen hours upon hours of music that's little more than white noise, I don't judge the taste of others.

These two songs are what made me realize when I was 15 that there there are things that are heavier then most metal.

Wait, how is Primus a jamband? They play actual songs, at least the two times I saw them, they didn't do much jamming :idk:
