Last night during a bar crawl I went into the bathroom and these two dudes were looking at a card that had all of the participating bars, in which I overheard:

Dude #1: Wait a minute, which (bar) is McGreggors?
Dude #2: Dude... we're in McGreggors.

Taking a break from its last few years’ worth of work with guitar god Michio Kurihara, Boris has been touring the States with a two-pronged show that’s one part experimental drone, with an emphasis on its early LP Flood, and one part more overtly song-oriented material. Given the furious psych rawk hurricane the band usually dispenses, the overall mellow vibe to this set came as a welcome surprise.

Clean guitars and bassist/guitarist Takeshi’s earnest singing took center stage on “Cosmos,” while he handed the vocal mic to guitarist Wata for the dreampopping “Rainbow,” which included an industrial strength guitar solo. Songs eventually gave way to pure sound, however, as the trio closed its set with the epic “Flood.”

Hell unleashed from the outset, Wata and Takeshi got their power chords on and drummer Atsuo held a tape recorder up to his cymbal mic to add to the chaos. The instrumental moves onto a quieter floor in the midsection, putting a spotlight on some remarkably pretty melodies. But heavy doom is never out of sight with Boris, and the deep grunge, guitar fury, and gong-bashing of the first section came roaring back.

Once all sternums has been vibrated and bowels loosened, Boris slowed its whirlwind down to a crawl, leaving enough room between notes to drive a Jeep through and letting the audience down easy.

Seagram's Seven is becoming my whisky of choice.

I've always liked it, but I'm just getting over the price thing.

Also, I feel like such a great ladies man right now. I was totally flirting with some cute, nerdy girl at work tonight. Twas great. And to those of you that are uninitiated, I am an expert in the ways of love. I have made love to many fine ladies from the lowliest bus station skank to the classiest most sophisticated, educated, debutant, high society... bus station skank.

Bassist of GWAR hit on my wife drunkenly for about 20 minutes on Saturday as I'm standing right in front of her. Weirdest situation ever.

Man, I saw The Dave Brockie Experience once.
Had to bail after they stopped halfway through a song and restarted four times.

Hahahah no. He came to the Noise Fest that my wife and I were playing and was either drunk when he arrived or drank fast enough once he got to the show that when everyone noticed him he was trashed. He started SCREAMING during a friends set THIS DUDE FUCKING SUCKS WHAT THE HELL IS THIS and then wobbled himself from the bar over to where my wife was sitting at the merch booth and plopped himself down and got in her face and said WHO ARE WITH??? WHATS YOUR NAME???? At which point I stood right in front of her to supervise. He then went on a drunken rant about how promotion sucks and how she should be unbiased to my projects and record label and that he didn't care that I was her husband and that she should be honest about the music I make and that he was in Gwar and he didn't care and that promotion was stupid and then got up and walked over to another one of my friends and said how the fest we were playing was STUUUUUUUUUUUPID and that it wasn't rock n' roll

Somehow I think it's a grammatical mistake to use GWAR and classy in the same sentence unless "is the opposite of" is between them.....

I (allegedly) drunkenly heckled some band for sounding exactly like Hella the other day.

In my defense, they did sound exactly like Hella.
