I think exploration in the new Fallout is sort of put off by the fact that you know you'll be redirection to a new location in a quest at some point. Which isn't the worst thing ever but it still helps to stimy how much free roaming you want to do.
I find myself avoiding going deep on new locations because I know I'll get sent back there.
Adding to that though is the genuine unsure nature of how prepared you are to just stumble across shit.
"Oh cool, this plays looks neato!...fuck! FUCKFUCKFUCK! Swarming with protectrons and guard bots! I only have a few rounds left, didn't bring any heavy weapons and left my power armour at home, because the mission I was on was delivering some info or some basic shit. BAIL!"

It makes you wearing of going balls deep first time around.
Having said that, those battles can be awesome if you find a way to come out on top.
But the amount of bullshit ambushes I've had have made me overly cautious.

That's pretty spot on. I've been to the Dunwich building like 6 times and that place is deep (and creepy)

Yeah the dunwich thing in fallout 3 is fucking weird, then you do this quest from one of the DLCs that is kook as fuck and it all makes sense.

I say fuck missions, I'm here to explore and loot. I don't mind going back if a mission calls for it. I find it more fun and exhilarating to go into a small town or building without someone having told me that the place has traps or is crawling with feral ghouls.

I play as a highly intelligent sneaky sniper. It was really hard at first but as I've started getting into lvl 20 and having found some bad ass rifles and camo, the whole stealth aspect is starting to work out. In cramped indoor environments I'm more or less fucked though.

Minecraft is so great. Built my home into the side of a snowy mountain. Self sustaining farm with an endless supply of wheat and milk and wool. Forest nearby. Caves all over the place to explore. Killing it.

Yeah fucking missions off is totally legit.
I started a skyrim game that was all about survivalism and wandering. I'll probably do a fallout run like that after this play through.

Dude you need to find the chameleon armour.

I usually play as a wise ass science nerd, cracking computers and locks left right and centre, then busting up to power armour and laser gatlings when I can.
This game is different.

I've recently become obsessed. Its a third-person, free-to-play, co-op shooter, in space! It has super satisfying melee and ranged combat, neat parkour movement system, tons of customization and really slick graphics that run on even my shitty hardware really well. The business model isn't really too bad as dumping your shekels into the game only speeds progression and unlocks skins and whatnot (and I usually HATE free-to-play games). I'm digging it.

I played this with friends for a while but like the majority of games, it just gets real boring real quick. You will only do the same thing over and over and over again. I can't stand stuff like that.

I definitely get that. If the combat wasn't so damn satisfying to me I would have lost interest super quick. It is essentially just the same several mission types over and over and over again on different maps with different enemies of increasing difficulty and loot. But ultimately what is a modern shooter but mostly mindless, repetitive, simulated violence? It's therapeutic really...

I want to do the same. It was so much fun in New Vegas!

I found it the other day, and it made my life in the wasteland so much easier! :joy:

Holy jesus. Why have I not played Vanquish before? So cool, this is so right up my alley.

I might need to replay Rising Revengeance again after this.
