There's an actual conversation to be had there about 70's groupie culture and different cultural mores and so on and so forth (I'm with Bloodhammer as far as separating art and artist for the most part), but if Roman Polanski doesn't get a pass for his behavior I'm not sure David Bowie and company should either.

Yea. Please for the love of God don't argue this point Vid. I got in a huge fucking fight on a forum years ago over this and I just cannot see this conversation going well. Her mother drugged her and offered her up for anal and all sorts of horrible shit. Then she forced her kid to take a plea bargain and ruined the rest of her life. He's a piece of shit that deserves to die.

Yea it doesn't matter though how she feels about it now. What matters is he had sex (multiple types) with a drugged up barely teenager. It's fucked up and he is scum.

I mean it matters insofar as you're claiming it ruined her life and she's claiming that it didn't. Victim identity (as in how you define yourself after something egregiously awful happens to you) is a really complex thing, right? Way beyond my pay grade and intellect.

Obviously Polanski's a creep. Incredible director who made a handful of amazing films... and a total shitbag. I think Bowie and Jimmie Page are viewed in a different light for a handful of reasons but it's still worth examining where these differences in public verdict come from and stuff like that

Please don't take this post the wrong way, but it's technically not pedophilia, as that would be having intercourse with someone prepubescent. These are extremely murky waters, and the fact that 'teen' is still one of the most used search terms on porn sites means that there are some serious conversations to be had if our societies ever mature enough to speak about sex and sexuality in a factual manner.

I'm not condoning rape or misuse of a position of power/influence, and a teenager is normally not taken to have the ability to make these kinds of choices for themselves. Just pointing out that I think pedophilia is a separate issue that should not get conflated with groupie culture.
