Interesting fact: Stretching has never actually been proven to improve recovery time. It's been proven to improve muscle strength and flexibility but not recovery (mind you it hasn't been proven that it DOESN'T improve it either). Yeah, science.

added el_carl as a friend on map my run

good workout tonight
did two miles hard and then took it easy for a mile, trying to improve my pace
I can knock out 10 min miles all day so I really need to work on a better pace

sitting at around 202
goal is 190 by fall

question for everyone
how long after you eat do you work out
no matter how long I wait (3 hours today)
I always taste my lunch for the first mile
it sucks

Agreed completely. It's been scientifically proven that interval training or HIIT training is more effective for building your cardiovascular system then solid running. That's why I can lift like a fucking beast and outrun most people that I know even if they are regular runners.

Went away to Maine and then Seattle the past 2 weeks (4 days in each) and I totally undid like a month of training.

lets try again.
How long do you wait to workout after eating?
And do you end up tasting your lunch over the first part of that workout?

Depends on what I'm going to do. If it's just lifting, 1+ hours. If it's cardio, 2+.
No.

My usual routine for running is get up, drink some water, eat something light like toast & peanut butter, and run like 15 minutes later. Dunno what the conventional recommendation is. If I run later in the day it'll be around an hour after dinner and also without issue. I do tend to eat really bland foods because of my inherited heartburn issues, though.

Now that I'm on this MapMyRun thing you gotta make sure I keep running 2-3 times a week, usually when I'm like "I should start running again" I get lazy and stop after a couple weeks.

I will dude,
You can win free kicks this month so you gotta get after it!

the brooks pure series are just good shoes at a good price regardless
thanks for the info on eating
I do want to start running early AM more instead of 10 at night and that would help me avoid tasting all my food

Depends. I've been known to work out 30 minutes after I eat. Doesn't affect me at all unless I'm doing leg day. Then I want to yak. You do want to give yourself sometime to digest your food, but if you're in a pinch, you gotta do what you gotta do.

I work out in the mornings, used to wait an hour after my morning shake (banana, milk and oats), but even right before didn't give me trouble.
