...... y'all know the DAFM doesn't have a Reset right? that is a super deal breaker for me.

especially since all the neat shizz it does is so tied to it's sequencer.

Meh I like working within limitations and don't really use a reset all that often anyways :idk:

How do you normally use your resets? The ER-101 has one, but I rarely use it. Maybe it's time to learn a new skill.

oof. all the TIME.

most things, like something that spits gate patterns or CV note sequences, it would sound ridiculous (most of the time) if they didn't all reset to the beginning of their pattern whenever i hit stop then play. all would be out of sync at some point.

for stuff like that, i use a Main System Reset from Pam's that i mult to everything that fires every 8 or 16 measures. so longer sequences can play with shorter loops, but all start at the start.

then it's fun with stuff like the Mimetic Digitalalalalais to use a reset that can easily be shifted, so either more random patterns (by modulation on the X and Y axis) can start with the same "root" note on measures or drawing it down so it's First Note Random Random Random, First Note Random Random First Note Random Random, First Note Random First Note Random.

but mostly the first thing. it would bug the SHIT out of me to have a sequence i couldn't start at the beginning every time.

This makes sense and makes me want to explore resets a little more. I don't really have enough sequencers to explore that at the moment though

How are you liking the field kit? It looks super fun but in the demos anything hit with the solenoid sounds very similar.
Are you able to get wildly different sounds depending on what you are hitting and how it is miced?

Rainmaker freeze preset used on m679, guitar, and drums. Video effects and extra pre-recorded tracks added in Vegas. :hello:

Mylar saying “it’s probably the most exciting analog instrument to come out that I can remember” says quite a lot.
I liked all the other demo vids of the DFAM but this is ridiculous. It will probably be my next purchase.
Every single time I hear a DFAM demo, I get insanely jealous that I don't have one. And this demo sounds amazing! I don't know when, but I'll definitely be buying one eventually
I still don't think a DFAM fits into my setup but goddamn that video was hot fire.
I watched this video and believe the video is cool, sounds good, groovy, etc.

But what is the DFAM doing that other drum modules cannot do?

What struck me as most successful here was the marriage of the drum module with FX.

I am becoming v. curious after Instagram videos by mlogger (sp?) shredding up waves ridiculously w. it.
I'd love to have one. Unfortunately I'm don't. I think I'd be cool getting one second hand - but putting that much $ down for something that would come months later is not good for my chronic GAS.

They look incredible though. So incredibly versatile - you can really set it up to do basically anything that you design; there's a substantial community for it too, at least based on the programs that are available for it.
Still on the fence about dropping $ on pre-order whenever it comes back up.

Do you have to be a Code Master to get the most out of this thing? I'm not set up to learn a programming language but I am set up to shred gnarly FX patches.

Only watched a couple vids so far... need to watch more videos.

MUCH. INTEREST. The Heklev seems like it would be right up my alley, but demos are...

Code: Select all
