fuck jia Deltz. NICE.

gah. MAN. tv's are so damn CHEAP now. i was looking through CL for a replacement for the old ass like 21" crt that just died at work. was thinking like a hundy or so. fucking 52 LCD's for $500? looks like i'm going to finally replace the All Your Base Are Belong To Us living room monolith that is my 42" rear projection monstrosity. i've had it for about 7 years, so it's WAY past time..... lol. still, feels weird that i'm going to have to either junk or give away a tv i paid like $2g's on when i bought it new.

i am EXCITE about having hella more space in my living room. since, besides sleeping and pooping or walking through the kitchen to grab a drink, that's pretty much the only place i spend time in my house. WOOT.

Those rear projectors were awesome at the time. I had a 42" as well and people hated that thing because it was too big, yet wanted to watch their favourite mowie on it. When making the switch to a bigger LCD screen I had the store I was buying it from pick up the old one. The guys picking it up were not happy that they had to carry that down 2 flights of narrow stairs. My uncle had the same one and his delivery guys refused to take his old one, he lives on the 4th floor, no elevator.

Gain space? Maybe if you mount it on the wall and don't have a bazillion consoles, DVR, DVD/BR-players, but if you get a basic TV thinger that houses that the space is about the same.

yah, defo going on the wall. lulz. the one i have now is maybe 3 or 4 feet deep, and just a MASSIVE presece in the room. getting it on the wall and tidying up the tv stand thing it's on, or replacing it, i think will give at least the feeling of way more space, if not the actuality. buds that have gone from rear projection gigantors to wall mounted lcd/plasma, it's been a huge difference being in that room. it is LCD, so the no burn in is cool, have to make sure the refresh rate is high enough for vidja gamins.

i don't have a HUGE amount of components. just a PS3, 360, dvd player and a tiny interface with an external hard drive that lets me watch video files that are used on mostly used computers on tv's. fucking awesome to have a video version of an iPod. and a receiver. the little entertainmenty station has slots for all of those, so will probabky keep that? dunno. gives me a reason to tackle the MASS of wires down there from adding/subtracting components over the years. that'll be nice too.

plus, bigger tv = WOOT.

Gee..I dont't feel right. I am not plotting to get some piece of gear like my fucking life depends on it. I see cool stuff and I am like, "That would be nice, maybe someday..." Have I come to grips that I actually have a finite amount of money for gear, and I have spent it (fairly well I might add). How long can peace like this last?
Granted a few things are being acquired slowly to get the most out of what I have, a DMC for TimeLine, An expression pedal, still need to make some cables... but I won't die if those take a bit to secure.

So,....Mecha Shiva is actually being productive.

We have no trouble jamming and improving but we get bored really easily and miss a lot of ideas,...even if it is recorded,....

In an epiphany that took way to long to occur (or maybe just the right amount of time; who knows) we started tracking ideas.

Our drummer will plunk out some basic patterns to a click track and record them in Ableton,....go through and pick the ones he likes the best and loop them. Then I'll come in track some bass ideas to those parts with a click,...pick the ones I like the best,...and loop them,...repeat for our guitarist,...combine all the parts; stitch things together; BAM an arrangement. Who'd a fucking thunk it. We can do that in any order we like.

We will probably never abandon the improvisational component; but I'm excited to start working on some more cohesive material. It's also a lot less exhausting than jamming for 3 hours.

I think there may be an awful lot of weirdness coming out of this band in the near future.

Thanks Ableton for being so awesome (and my bandmates).

awesome. yah, i enjoy jams, but i love making songs. i've never had as meshy noisy awesome a project as chu got going on though.

fucking tonight. so good. the laptop i setup worked fine, i forgot to get it working with the midi keyboard though. so we just played out the two songs we have basically done, worked on some vocal transition stuff, then started jamming on one idea that was just three riffs. third riff just died, cool but could NOT come out of it. so we ended up coming up with 3 other parts, some cool drop in and out and solo the drums stuff and kinda wrote a whole song from the ground up.

i. love. these two people. so hard.

but now i'm fucking DONE. eating my basmatti rice with paneer masala and then going UNDER. oof.

Yes,....I had Indian food tonight as well. Some veggie Samosas and Sheesh Kabob.

I hate rice,...but I love their Basmati.

RE: Sousies post (EDIT) I'm sorry Deltz post.,....I've been relatively satisfied with my effects setup for a while now. Beyond getting the SVT,....the only other piece I need is an upgraded cab. Plus investing some money in getting my instruments maintained.

I'm content to just experiment with my signal chain as far as FX go. I've got some ideas kicking around the noggin.

That's aweome, hoy. We're a few covers away from the writing process. We're all broke and most of the "bigger" bands in this area will do shows that are 3 50 min sets (half covers/half originals), anyways....so we figured we'd start with 20 covers and get hired at places to begin with. Once the 20 are down we'll move practices into jam sessions and start the writing process. It's going to be pretty nice, though. A few growing pains with me being the only one with A LOT of experience but it'll polish up nicely.

I got an email from Guitar Center advertising the potentiometers that are in the Eddie Van Halen guitars, each pot is $10  , even though it's for guitar it seems like a TB type of thing.

Magic pots always sound better.

Alphas are actually smoother and have a better feel than CTS.

Considering they both sound exactly alike I go for the feel. (interestingly that works for girlfriends too)
Yes I blind tested them.
