Daaaaaamn, nice. Have you done it before?
I've seen a couple of ads on Craigslist here for a screenprinting shop and it seems like it'd be enjoyable but they always want a few years' experience.

Nah I haven't. I won't be doing the printing it self, at least not right away (hopefully I can at some point). I've just been doing odd jobs until I start on a regular schedule next week, then I'll primarily be working with the ink, mixing colors and organizing and such. There are also some pretty cute girls workin' there. Hoping for a shop happy hour sometime

since it was quite warm here in Chicagoland today, i got my bicycle out and rode around the series of connected trailer parks looking for the mailboxes. it made me SO HAPPY. it's a Klein mountain bike i bought in the mid-1990s and is a joy to ride, light, silent, and utterly smooth in every mechanical aspect, and so it only magnifies the feeling of flying three feet off the ground that i've always loved about bicycles since i was a child. if i'd thought to bring my backpack to put the mail in, i'd have kept on riding until my butt wouldn't stand the racing saddle. back in the 90s/early 00s i was a total bike geek, and riding again feels like getting back a limb i'd lost.

Word, I was only outside for about 15 minutes today, but they were a nice fifteen minutes. I was waiting for the bus after school and lied down in the grass instead of standing. I used my backpack as a pillow and listened to the sounds of traffic as the sun warmed my face, until my face got a bit too warm and I held my hand up to the sun.

I don't remember October being this pleasant when i grew up here. but then, i over-estimated how extreme the temperatures would be every time i visited here over the last 30 years...in the fall of 89 i thought i was going to freeze but it wound up being moderate, and when i was here in ~2009 i thought the August weather would kill me but it was under 75º every day but one.

Man, you missed the crazy warm winter. That shit was ridiculous.

Chill night drinking with folks at the bar, smoking some weed, getting home around 1 and having time to watch Adult Swim and do the little prep I have for classes tomorrow, and my first on is cancelled. I don't have class until 2pm.

Now, tortilla chips with melted cheese and black bean salsa. Washing it all down with a screwdriver.

Yeah, we had a warm winter last year. I biked to work every day but one day!

That said, the farmer's almanac has us on schedule for another extremely mild winter! I grew up so far north that this is like a vacation for me.

I'm home sick from work (with a stupid sinus infection that makes playing loud music annoying), BUT: I listened to so many cool pedal demos today :D :D :D :D

Also, the other day I ordered a big Ganesha wall hanging from Etsy to put in my practice space. Ganesha is the Hindu god of overcoming obstacles, I'm told, and so it seems fitting to hang it in my practice space.

Plus, the wall won't be so boring to look at
