This is the kind of functional ugly that I can tolerate---not quite ugly-beautiful (so ugly it's beautiful), but somewhat beautifully out of sorts. It looks like a prototype gone awry. Functional ugly means that something is somewhat fugly, but no so much so that it's distracting. There is some gear out there so overwhelmingly ugly, that the mere sight of it disorients and confuses me.
---I love the giant green (Oz-inspired?) orb indicator. I generally appreciate someone making odd or riskier color pairings. And I have a soft spot for experiments that don't quite fulfill their ambitions (mismatched knobs, chunky buttons, et cetera). I think the thing that puts this over the top for me in terms of tackiness is the neon orange wolf on the side.
