Opposite camp here. I've had the CT5 for a while, got a GB24 to check the hype. Keeping the CT5 is a no-brainer for me. Different strokes and all that.

I have both, I use the Ct5 95% of the time; but sometimes, the pleasant shittyness, and I mean that in the most loving way, of the GB24 fits the bill perfectly.

I use them both, 50/50ish. Sometimes I'll stack them if I'm feeling crazy.

What happens to audio in the buffer when you switch modes?
Compacted on a molecular level? I don't remember if this clip
illustrates that in action. Guess I'll have to listen/watch again.

Mode switch resets the buffer. I don't understand the rest of your questions.

I guess I was hoping sound molecules would be preserved in buffer and
shuffled along to next setting to get compacted.
Still a lot of sweet Ginsu-knife sounds to slice and dice the toanz with.
