yeah I've been doing that lately. Also when the loops degrade or as you record too much stuff onto them, they get all fuzzed out. It's sweet. Like every other ratty distortion it sounds best when paired with an equally shitty homemade cabinet.
Mine's a Technics deck; maybe one day I'll do a tape deck fuzztoan shootout.
What I really want to do right now though is get two Walkmans or another small player like that, completely gut em and throw the parts (minus the loading trays and stuff) into a bigger enclosure and use it as a weird reel-to-reel style tape delay. That's happening as soon as I get enough money to go on a thrift store run.

In a similar vein, I want to start buying shitty ipod speakers (and kids toys and shit), jumping the ICs with pots for gain control, and turning them into micro fuzz boxes. I've done it before, and it turns out pretty cool.

I think my situation is officially migrating from the spite thread to the happiness thread.
Breaking up with my current girlfriend and moving into a new apartment on Friday with my best friend Cate. The following week, asking out my friend Lindsay who I have been liking more and more every day for months.

A board/rack of mangled tape decks would look so awesome. I have like 3 in my basement, gonna have to try this.

I got THE BEST tone from my Kramer last night running my Holy Grail into my Landmine Distortion

And on another similar note, I recorded for the first time with my Telemaster and it is SO FUCKING PERFECT. The Phat Cat is overwound it seems, so it really blasts the fuzz for a nice thick saturated tone on 10, but then when you roll it back you get so much clarity its sooooo good

even tryin to paint in the rain today couldnt help but be relaxed
and blinky just popped out from under the bed

I've got a job interview lined up for tomorrow. It would just be seasonal stuff at Best Buy, but still. Work is work.

Just ordered the new Girlfight ep, so I'm pretty stoked on that.
