i saw Prefuse73 at Slim's in SF i think, also a really nice club, and that was like $20. yikes.

I straight up won't go to shows unless I can get in for less than $30. Too many great bands playing at $10-$15 to justify paying more.

I've paid more than that a couple times, for special circumstances. But mostly, yeah. I think I paid like 22 or 24 total for Isis's farewell tour, for christ's sake!

Dude, every drummer worships Tool. My covers drummer is an even bigger Tool geek than I am.

we were s'posed to go down to LA this Saturday for the drummer (what's his name? Dana Carvey?) thing he does where it's him and 4 or 5 other musicians in this tiny, 40-50 person club. they do a set or two. not Tool stuff, covers and i think jam out stuff? dunno. my drummer's gone like 4 or 5 times, loves it. i don't really have any feelings about Tool either way. never really listened to them. that show got bumped for a few weeks but it sounds fun.

my singer's a huge Tool nutter too.

or this one:

why is it.... that i honestly don't have negative or positive feelings about that band..... but i reflexively want to curl
my lip in disdain whenever they're mentioned? i don't understand that. i'm not like that about music. unless it's somebody i HATE, i figure there's something redeeming in there... maybe something i don't get, but SOMEthing. like, even bands i DO think are awful (Nickleback, ICP et al), i don't care. good for them for making that paper right?

why does my body want to hate Tool even though my mind can't justify it?

I love the band....but they have some pretentious fucking fans. That's probably it. I'm like that with Sublime. At least my irrationally disdained guy had the decency to off himself for me.

it's a really, really stupid band name. and for me, i won't listen to a band with a really bad name unless someone plays them for me.

Most band names are stupid. Which makes it fun to translate into Dutch and just call em that.

No Dams, but we do have De Dijk, which was/is pretty popular and sadly an excellent example of typical Dutch music.

huh. that's....... mellow.

band i was in in high school played with Sublime. right as Date Rape was hitting.

best part of the night? them ignoring the audience's yells for them to play Date Rape. even responding with "WE HAVE OTHER FUCKING SONGS. YOU'RE GOING TO HEAR THEM.". always dug that.

worst part of the night? being around those fucking tools. dunno if they're nicer now, but fuck me. some Rokk Star BULLSHIT right there. asses.

urgh, i hate playing with people who think they're ROKK STARRU. so many bands who hide in the back rather than come out and have a beer and a smoke with peeps
