I have a real amp (Bugera 1960) and a practice amp (Marshall JTM30). I have 3 basses, but one of them (crappy hondo pbass) is just for beating on at home, the other two are my "real" basses (G&L L2500 and Squier VM Jag). I need two because of tuning changes at gigs.

PUPPIES!!!
i'm gonna have to get a proper bass amp if i intend to play the instrument other than in a home recording context or jamming where i can use other peoples' rigs. at home i play through the Laney, which is fine with it because it has 12" low-frequency Greenbacks.

I think I'm going to be in that exact same boat once my B-PEG comes in.
Those pedals are THE BEST when you want a tube sound and you have a solid state rig.....now I have a power amp with 16 tubes.

I have been considering getting a practice amp. It goes against my very being....I would usually just lug the huge ass rig around....but I want to preserve this vintage tube amps and keep those tubes lasting as long as possible. The problem would be trying to find something with a similar tone....I don't want to have to tweak pedals when changing from practice amp to gig amp.

My gig-band rig is a 200 watt Orange tube head into a 4 ohm Avatar 2-12. Plenty big and loud. I have only played one gig with out P.A. support in the last year or so and the rig I had at the time worked fine for that too.
At home I have a 100 watt Univox tube head and a Univox 2-15. They do not have the same tone at all, kind of a PITA, but not horrible. I have 2 basses, and one that I am slowly piecing together. I definately think a back-up is crucial...gigging and such.
I have one acoustic guitar, one Electric 6 string, and one guitar amp. At home use for the most part.
I also tend to think for the most part, I should use it, to keep it for music gear. There are a few exceptions. I do have a collector's mentallity (OMG huge Star Wars collection) and recently had to stop that in regards to pedals. I am cool with being spendy on things I use.

I tend to like...buy amps. And, now I have a lot of amps! It's nice.
Though, due to apartment living, I've been getting a lot of use out of the $80 peavey combo I bought forever ago. I mean, it sounds pretty much like whatever you put into it, which is cool.

To make it even better, they're opening for DJ Shadow on those dates.

holy SHIT. tickets are $35 with a $11.50 convenience fee. that's........ that's way too much. the Regency is a nice place, but where bands play it's a medium sized club. like Slims, where shows are at MOST $15-$20. oof. i'd like to Shadow and i'd love to check out Nerve live....... but that's way more than i want to spend on a few hours of music.
OOF.

yah..... i'm not cheap..... but unless it's something to make the wiff happy, it's hard to justify almost $50 on one show.
i saw Prefuse73 at Slim's in SF i think, also a really nice club, and that was like $20. yikes.

I straight up won't go to shows unless I can get in for less than $30. Too many great bands playing at $10-$15 to justify paying more.
