hurm. sooooooooo....... silly story time.
my drummer is awesome. besides just being GOOD, easy to work with, open to trying stuff, takes comments as constructive criticism not tearing him down, is GOOD....... he's a peach of a dood. i lurv him. and with the grrLy-grrL working out so well we just all FIT. so fun, just..... easy. happiest i've ever been with other musicians.
my drummer was playing with another band when he and i left the last thing we were in. we talked to them and they moved out of the sorta expensive shit hole they were in and we all got a room at a cheaper shit hole. worked out 'cause now Paul (mah drummer) didna have to move his set except for shows, rent was cheaper, we both used the PA and computer i brought and setup for recording. everything was fine.
after awhile stuff got a little less fun for Paul with his other band, same time stuff started picking up with us and we've been having a blast. nothing horrible just stuff had shifted. then the other day i get an email from the guitarist in Paul's other band (sorta the Main Dood there) almost blasting me because i left some cables from the computer unplugged and it was "such a pain to setup every time we come in and want to just get to practice". now, mind, the entire PA setup (speakers, amp and mixer, used to be my mics until they brought some of their own), the computer, the Motu 828 firewire interface, the recording software on the computer....... all that's my gear. i had no problem with them using it, showed them how, all that. but since my singer's been playing keys i've been shlupping my home audio pc there, unhooking the computer i don't even use there, plugging mine in, bringing a smaller interface....
i responded to the email with a politely worded "fuck out of my face son" and some reminders that it's my gear..... ended if with something like, "i don't really take well with being told what to do. especially when it's about equipment that i don't even use that i'm loaning people. you want to talk to me do it as an adult. let's everybody treat each other as equals so there's no stupid drama bullshit.". i was kinda irked, but whatevah. i don't ever have to see the other guys. and dood that was blowing up on me is a bit of a little puss. first email blasting me he addressed to everybody, then he sent one just to me saying how "sorry, didn't mean anything mean, my passion makes me sound angry sometimes....". again, whatever.
lol. Paul got PISSED. sent them this email talking about how much of entitled little assholes are you, dood sets up all this stuff for us, brings in a fridge, stocks it...... filled me with all the warm cuddly feelings in the world. hah. then P-Diddly told me about how one time when they were practicing one of his other guys had the audacity to say, "hey..... the fridge is pretty low on drinks. can you ask Ben next time to pick up some [Whatever Douches Drink]? thanks.".
Paul spent the weekend mulling it over, cooled down, decided it wasn't much fun with them anymore, they weren't involving him in decisions, this silly shit... was time to move on. i'm ecstatic 'cause it means we'll have our own room with things always how i want them, more practice time, no scheduling issues. good times.
long story = questions - have any of y'all been in a similar situation? two bands, one room, one member (yesh, best porn EVER.)? then Sharedy leaves one band (especially since Paul's a drummer...... not enough room for two sets in there). we kind of would prefer them to bounce and find they're own spot, but neither of us really has any more claim on the room then the other. bassist and guitarist from other band, Paul and me are all on the lease. i don't think it's going to devolve into something silly like "well then KICK me out", but how would'cha'all deal with it? what's a polite or polite enough way to resolve it so i end up with what i want?
oof. RAMBLE.

I mean, you'll likely have to take up the rest of the rent on the room, but it sounds like they need to bounce.

Who has been actually handing the rent money to the manager/owner or whatever of the practice space?

It would never be cranked and I have some compression going on in my chain.
from what rating to what?

Be honest with them. (Well, not completely honest, but honest enough so as not to hurt their feelings too much.) Just lay it all out.
Ask them nicely if they'd mind finding a different practice space for 'emselves. I'm sure they're not gonna like it, but their reaction will tell you how mature they are.

lol. yeah, they're not that mature, but the annoying one is kinda a bitch that i think would back down to avoid confrontation.
i don't mid absorbing the extra rent, there's only two of them that were paying 'cause we weren't gonna double charge Paul. it's only $50 more each a month. WAY ok with that for the extra space.
we've rotated people dropping off checks. i'm not really worried about a Management Needs To Intervene situation.... i guess just want to figure out a way to get what i want but not engender any bad feeling between peeps?

Be as honest as you possibly can be given their maturity level.
Telling little white lies to get what you want in this case isn't such a bad thing.
Tell 'em you're adding a modular synthesist to the band and need more room for a mega modular synth or something.

lol. i like how you think. just have a bud show up and pose as a new member with like 5 synths and 212 lbs of outbourd gear. 'm listening.
been texting with Paul about it, we're gonna give them the weekend (he emailed them that it wasn't working out like 2 days ago i think?), then tell them we'd prefer them to look for a new spot at the end of the month, see where it goes from there. luckily i have the money available to pay back their part of the deposit.
oof. when i checked with management, they said the room NEXT DOOR was opening up next month. REALLY hope they go somewhere else. trying to be friends and all.... but AWKWARRRRrrrrrrd.

The amp pumps out 475 and the cab does 400.

shit. i'd be ok with that.
a) i'm WAY bigger than either of them.
b) they're spoiled little sheltered and indulged rich kids. i'm from the fucking STREET. (not really. but i've been there at least.)
c) if they DID start to win i'd just pull my pecker out. one of them seems homophobic, the other seems repressed and scared to admit that he's gay. would work out in my favor in both situations.

Well, I hope you're happy behndy.
Now I get to go to sleep with the vision of you beating those dudes with your wang.
Thanks for that.
