Speaking of vestigial dongs, seeing anything John Waters / Divine related always reminds me of my freshman year modern art history teacher in Baltimore. First day of class, she said she was a movie star; she'd played Mole McHenry in Desperate Living, the JW movie in which she was a lesbian who cut off her fake rubber penis with a pair of scissors.

She was way awesome.

I was at a 12 hour movie marathon this past weekend and the last movie was PINK FLAMINGOS. I've seen it several times before but seeing it on 35mm was an elevating experience. Waters came out before and gave a touching speech. There is an unfeigned affection in his films. Watching the film again, I died laughing in the theater at this line...
NSFW: show
"DIVINE HAS LEARNED OF YOUR JEALOUS SCHEME FROM THE LOCAL TOWN GOSSIP. SHE ALSO HAS YOUR ADDRESS...ASSHOLE!"
I love those movies so much. DESPERATE LIVING and FEMALE TROUBLE are two of my favorites. Thinking of those opening scenes in DESPERATE LIVING get me through rough times and the absurdity of life.
I've been re-watching clips from FEMALE TROUBLE all week. I can honestly say I am in a slightly better mood than usual. Thank you John Waters, true auteur!

I love that you capitalize words rather than italicize them.

Apparently she got kicked out of the house she's staying in.

...so I should let her crash here tonight?

Or run far away? Yeah that's the one.

Yeah not happening. Even those (admittedly amazing) boobs aren't worth all that.

That seems like a situation where I'd have to force her to leave after a few days. Noooooope.

Inappropriate etymological dump: histrionics, hysteria and hysterectomy are deeply sexed terms that come from a belief in Medieval humors--people thought that women were crazy because their wombs went rogue and ran willy-nilly all through their bodies causing havoc.

Now back to your regularly-scheduled penisgramming.
