Why is it that anyone I know from Edmonton is from Sherwood Park?
Cuz everyone in Edmonton wants to be local so they can go for a beer with Ryan!
Thought that was common knowledge????

That's where Ryan and Tanya live:

What a nice place!

That's right, Sherwood Park just outside of Edmonton! It's pretty sweet out here... little too much urban sprawl but it's a nice, quiet, convenient town right outside the city.
More like this though, we're in the prairies after all..

The strange perspective on that video, it's weird, 2d flattened look and the spacey sounds make me feel very... tripped out. Good work Syl!

Totally! I love that trippy quality, Syl, it's super cool! Thanks a million for making that demo, you rule.

You can get the weirdness out easily with the clock knob and clock switch in the middle position... and get a more chorusy type of sound.
Me, I like it spacey.
The iPhone couldn't handle some of the distorted sound... clipping noise is from the iPhone mic.
The v3 has more range than the v2 because of the way the clock respond and to me it sound more transparent.
Ryan...
Thanks.

Thanks Syl, I think you totally nailed the big differences that a v2 owner would find compared to the v3... the clock settings and values are different and the wet signal is clearer. That was basically my whole goal in updating the sound of the pedal, that's what I was shooting for.
Thanks again for your spacey style, buddy!

The clearer wet setting will be key with my setup, glad you focused on that aspect Ryan. It really does sound fascinating, OMFG gonna be the BEST XMAS EVER!

I focused on sound quality first, noise levels second, and headroom third. I would warn people to not expect higher headroom out of v3, but to definitely expect better sound quality. I've got a trimpot on the pcb that can turn down the input level of the wet signal which can then be compensated by turning the volume knob up more, but the increase in headroom comes at the price of higher noise. That's the way the compromise works though, the classic 2 out of 3 scenario where you can only have 2 and not the third...
I think you'll find it works with your fuzz/distortion better now too, Shannon, remember how you found the v2 to be a little quieter and a lot darker... the level is sorted out and while the wet signal is still noticeably darker when used with a lot of gain (it can go brighter than dry when clean, it's just that the extra high frequency content added by a lot of gain doesn't make it through the filtering), the wet and dry blend in a way that doesn't emphasize it as much... to my ears at least.. you can keep the fuzz/dist tone very similar while adding in the chorus effect.

I'm just looking for Cosmichorus V3. That's all. Whatever that entails, as long as it's like V2, then I'm happy.

I'm sure Shannon will like it. I like the v2 a lot, but the v3 is a lot better with dirt.
I have humbucker so I reduce that trimpot a bit... sound great.
Nice work Ryan... can't wait to have mine with the sparkly finish.

It's a lot like the v2 still, Danny, for sure, but depending on what v2 you had you'll probably find you have to set it a bit differently than you're used to. With the v2, I used a few different mix pots and a couple different clock pot tapers over the couple years that I made them, just little tweaks here and there where I thought little improvements could be made, little experiments... so some people's v2 might sound different at the same mix or clock settings... same with the v3, it's got the sounds but you might have to tune it in a little differently. My favourite difference is the more subtle and versatile clock settings... v2 got too weird too fast.
Glad you think it works better with dirt, Syl, that's awesome. And I'm glad that trimpot worked for you.. I'm gonna send all the v3s out with that trimpot turned up all the way but in the manual I'll teach people how to turn it down if necessary. Single coil guys won't have to worry about it at all, I find it even handles my baritone EGC really well although it's single coils too, it just seems really big and loud and bassy... single coil pickups rule Syl, I'll pop over tonight and pop some in your guitar, you pop a pizza in the oven, maybe a couple pops, root beers.
The sparkle finishes for these boxes are going to be a style that we've never had before and I'm really excited to see them too... I'm hoping for the coolest looking boxes we've ever seen.
