I know I'm in the minority, but I think Tele headstocks look dumb. I like the 72 Deluxe reissues because they have the fat Strat headstock. I think the reason I like this Jaguar is because of the finish. It'd be even cooler if the hardware was black.

Re: Mastodon, Red Fang, Torche. Red Fang all day every day. They're fucking awesome live. I love Mastodon, but the last time I saw them was on the Hunter tour, and those songs just don't carry the weight. Never seen Torche, but would love to.

Darren is a teddy bear. A really BIG teddy bear. I can't imagine him getting that mad at anyone, but I pity the foo if he did.

Mastodon is cool and all, Torche and Red Fang will be be something you really don't want to miss. So good.

Parker man you are a rad dude. If ya ever need a hand lemme know.

2x15's rule. I know a 4x12 shaped one is what is wanted, but old Kustom cabs are cheap and decent.

Clifton, THANK YOU! I fucking hate tele hea... well just about everything. Do not like and it seems like its kinda a flavor of the month thing lately. Sorry if I offend. Sure some great sounds have been made with them but not for me.

Nicks sharktank reminded me of how much rad shit he has brewing and has done. Makes me feel like a total slacker :D

I'm exhausted and drunk right now, new drummer dude today, kinda rough but great attitude and really wants to do this. I think the dude is just rusty. We did get a few takes in that sounded good. (Prior to excessive drinking on my part) So things are looking up :hello:

So is 24" scale kosher for doom? I'm into stoner doom, but haven't paid attention to what kind of gear ppl are using. I figured standard 24.75 - 25.5 or longer (baritone). I mainly play 22.7" scale. :)*

Here's something I heard from my buddy who plays only Jazzmasters and he usually has no idea what he's talking about so maybe somebody can chime in and set the record straight. He said that longer scale guitars allow for greater tension at lower tunings. Any veracity to this assertion? Every time I've handled Assface or Tad's Gibsons I can't begin to keep the strings lined up with each other because they're all loosey goosey from tuning lower than a snake's belly. But I've never played lengthy Fenderish axe tuned so low so I just have no frame of reference.

It can be mitigated by using heavier strings. Longer scale does equal more tension with the same strings. Thats why alot of guys who tune to E on longer scaled guitars like lighter strings.

I play a 24 3/4 scale 12. I use lighter strings than most because they are doubled up and I like the bendys. I'm still at 11's for the high C strings though.
I don't think it's 100% necessary to tune down though. you can be plenty heavy in any tuning. more a mindset in my opinion.

If you are using the same string sizes tuned the same the longer the scale the more tension there will be.

I have a 25.5 guitar along with 24.75 for everything else I play. There is more tension on the 25.5 with the same strings and tuning but it isn't a huge difference. Not enough to warrant anyone saying tuning lower on 25.5 is more beneficial. Baritone scale lengths would be the ideal suggestion in that argument due to the added inch(s). I still prefer my Gibsons over the Squire
