I found a record in my dad's collection that my ex really likes, so I took a picture of it and sent it to her. Like, why? What's the point? She hasn't shown any interest in keeping contact. Yet here I am, habitually thinking about her to no resolution. I just want to turn it off.

i feel you...my ex dumped me in the nastiest way she could come up with two years ago last September, and i'm still so heartbroken from that and losing the house to foreclosure that i can hardly get myself to do anything. all i've done for the last three days is sleep and watch two or three hours of TV while i'm awake.

I guarantee that cutting out television will reduce your depression. The whole mechanism of advertisement and entertainment is meant to produce a sense of longing and need. It sells products and it makes people form bonds with fictional characters, further broadening the chasm between the lonely viewer and the rest of the real world (which is full of other lonely people) and providing nothing but empty claims.

I have become a healthier, happier person since I cut TV out of my life and I am not the only one. If you're going to be home, read an awesome book (I suggest And The Ass Saw The Angel by Nick Cave) or write, draw or record something. If not, go outside. Depression's worst enemy is exercise.

I feel like thinking about her like tis might just be a pattern I've developed. Like I haven't felt intense loving and longing for this person in a while yet I still think about her and relate things to her constantly. I don't know if it's similar for you guys. Hopefully it's something I can be aware of, try to decrease emphasis on it, and let it not be a big deal if it happens. Maybe.
