love a bit of whiskey...right now i have a gelnfiddich 18yr...which is amazingly smooth and tasty...but usually i like my Irish whiskey...black bushmill is surprisingly good for the money. But i'm more of a vodka guy...neat with an ice cube. The best i've had is Beluga, its way better than grey goose (which seems to win all the awards) and on the cheap side, frozen Stoly is always a winner!

just talking about this i'm getting memories of my younger years when we use to go for drinks after a work in a new small bar which had just opened up, and a friend and I use to tell them to put the Stoly in the freezer at the beginning of the night...after about a month of going down there nearly every night, we never had to ask anymore, they knew what we drank and they knew how we liked it!...actually on reflection...I'm not sure if that was good thing!

oh and on the weed thing...this is so un-doom...i've only smoked it about 2 or three times...

Well, I'm glad we're now just breaking Doom stereotypes.

This isn't DOOM news, but I just got back from watching Django Unchained. Pretty awesome! Go check it out now. Go on, I'll be waiting right here.

Is it as good as the original one? i love my spaghetti westerns, and although i like Tarantino films, i'm not sure you can mess with a film like Django and remake it these days.

Honestly, not seen the original (not at an age I could remember at least), so I've no idea how they compare - but I really enjoyed it

My enthusiasm for Albini extends as far as Songs About Fucking. I never got into Rapeman or Shellac. I'm not saying it can't or won't ever happen though!

Also there is this now:

I can't seem to embed it with the [youtube] tags?

No problem, you're welcome. Yeah, it's tricky, a little different from forum to forum.

Damn, I should have given that a spin when I was at Soldano's with you but the Avenger was so fucking awesome! Also, I still want your buddy from Sleep Capsule's guitar. And Sleep Capsule merch/recordings if they have any. And an Ape Blaster. So yeah.

Apparently it's not coming to my local cinema. I've been anticipating Django Unchained for months. I'll have to hop on a train to watch it.

Yeah, I know about that. I know what pickups I WANT if I can't fix the dullness, but I'm searching for a cheaper option. I don't want to put too much money into this guitar, as I doubt it'll be one I use consistently.

Ancient Astronaught wrote:If you want to increase brightness similar to basically extending the treble range on your tone knob then you could increase the vol + ton pot values. I believe it comes with 250k pots which are designed for a lot of treble roll off to use with single coil pickups, which when used with humbuckers they make them sound muddy / dull and low end heavy. I have the same guitar but its made in mexico not japan and I plan on upgrading the WRHB pot values to 1 meg as i hear that opens them up the most. As far as the bigger strings you'll need a full setup to get rid of the fretbuzz, I'm using .11's with no real issues. And as far as the nut if you can actually pull it out do so and put a dab of superglue in the nut channel (just a tiny lil dab) and stick it back in and position it then let it dry for a few minutes and you'll be good to go.

Replacing the pots should help a lot, and it's something I could do myself.

As far as the nut goes, it remains in place when there is a force put on it, such as from the strings, so I'm OK for the moment. But I'll definitely get it sorted out ASAP. The fret buzz isn't terrible—I've experienced worse—but I want to eradicate all doubts I have about this instrument, because frankly it's upsetting me. :picard:

Django was great. I would definitely recommend checking it out. It is super violent just like any tarintino movie but he handles it very well when it is happening to an evil character compared to a slave or one of the main characters. It can be very raw and make you cringe or it can make you laugh with the obscene amount of blood that explodes from the gun shot wound. He also gets a hit on the pre-kkk with some hooded characters that you may have seen in the trailers. The movie takes place a few years before the civil war before the kkk formed.

In other news, I am off to see Neurosis in a bit. Full report will come later.
