Got a Yarns today. I think I want to sell it already. I hate this thing. How fucking hard is it to get pitch and clock CV from the Digitakt into the rack? Apparently, very.

I've read the manual 5 times and I can't wrap my head around the stupid sequencer in the Yarns. I don't want to use it, but it seems like it will only output clock when the Yarns seq is running, but it will only output pitch CV when the sequence isn't running?

I'm this close to tossing it and getting something simpler like an Intellijel uMidi unless someone can maybe explain things in a way that makes sense.

Select one of the DT's midi tracks. Set a midi channel to output on. Make a sequence on the DT. Go to Yarns. There's a channel select menu (I honestly can't remember the 2 letter shorthand, maybe CH) and depending on your mode you can set one to four midi channels to look on for pitch/gate shit. I never use Yarns for Start/Stop/Run kinda stuff, just pitches, but worst case scenario you could always put it into monophonic x4 mode and use one of the gate outs as a clock. I'm fairly certain it has a start/stop functionality, I just don't know how to trigger it personally. I'm sure there's a reference on muff about it.

jia. Yarns looks.... complex. i get why Olivier is going for No Menus now. everything of his that was more than surface level click throughs is layed out CONFUSINGLY.

annnnnnnd ordered a Deluge. he said he can't ship till Tuesday because it's Easter Weekend, but i have a bud in Sacto that got his in 3 days so..... might be here by next weekend? woot?

Thanks yeah, I've done this, but it won't output clock on gate 3/4 out unless the Yarns seq is running - which then makes using pitch annoying since I'm not recording anything to the seq

me TOO! been watching so many vidjas. and there are a TON. very comprehensive YT interactive manualing.

but the thing i'm most freaking excited about i haven't seen mentioned in vids yet (asked the main dooder in email whilst gushing about Flight Of The Conchords lurv) - they term it Shift Horizontally.

i have wanted a sequencer forever that lets you move the pattern steps to the left or right, effectively changing the start point of the sequence. and things like the FLXS1 can do that, but you change that it starts on the 5th note in the sequence and extend it 4 steps but then you have to copy steps 1-4 to the end of the pattern.... just being able to scoot the pattern back 4 steps and have those 4 notes wrap around to the end?

GOOD GAWD I WANT THAT HARD.

...... i might OCCASIONALLY tap out/record a beat/melody that sounds so much better starting at a different place.

also, well keen on trying the copy a pattern/melody, paste at a zoomed in/zoomed out/off time subdivision resolution thing.

holy butts. the Keyboard Mode on Deluge is laid out left to right in semi tone increments, but each row is a 4th higher.

so. just how normal bass tuning is.

um. YES.

So, Behndy, the Deluge is looking pretty good. I wish it had 2 CV ins, that would tie it totally into the modular Eco system: controlling parameters on the synths/samples, sequencer parameters or swinging a clock or whatever.

Oh well, it loooks good still and I look forward to hearing about your experience.

yah. it's very weird that no one makes groove box / samplers with CV in. always feels like a missed opportunity.

i mean, there's the BitBox. but then it's s buttload of (WORTH IT) hp and doubling up sample banks.

it should ship today. yeshhhhhh. SOON MY PRETTY.
