Well, it arrived!

Then I look inside and see that it was shipped to me with 2 power tubes missing.

I fired it up anyway, and tried it out. Even at half-power, HOLY CRAP is this thing loud! Sounds great too. Even just playing through a single 12, it had a ton of low-end. I actually found that I couldn't get much treble or presence out of it in the normal channel. I think I read that that's normal when you have two tubes pulled. The bright channel actually sounded really good.

Then again, this was with my crappy hondo p-bass which is pretty damn dark to begin with.

Anyways, they're sending me two more tubes, but for now, I'll still rock it at half-power.

Don't tell me that. I've always wanted one of those. Don't you dare continue to elaborate on how awesome that amp is.

OK, on the normal channel, with the gain around 4 or so, I can get it to dirty up on the hard notes. This is pretty damn cool. Like I said, it's too dark of a tone for me set up like this, but it totally nails that Dragonaut sound.

puh, i can not turn it up to 4. That would ruin the house. That amps is fucking loud.
I'm interested in your findings of the bass response. For my taste it could go down deeper...

I actually found the bass response to be good, certainly heavy enough for my needs, but I tend to like a honkier, more mid-heavy bass tone.

I'll have a much more in-depth opinion when I get the other 2 tubes in and I can play it with my G&L and my 4x10.

Just be so kind and give some feedback then. :)
(I play guitar through it with octave down stuff - that is the only part where i think, it could be more. But it is a very good amp for the money.)

OK, I just realized that I was being a fucking moron, and I fixed the muddiness! I forgot that since I only have half the power tubes in there, I should have been running the impedence selector at half the ohms that I had it on. Once I switched it down to the correct impedence, now the normal channel sounds awesome.

And yeah, holy shit. It really does sound awesome. I'm wondering if I might want to keep it on half-power all the time. Does anyone do that? Will it fuck up the amp long-term? When I google around, I see some people saying it's fine, and others say that it will end up killing your amp eventually. Is there a consensus here?
