I just realised how poorly constructed that first sentence was.
Change "on a cold night" to "where it is freezing", then we're apples.
Maybe I've had a few too many.
You'll excuse me if I'm grammatically incorrect.

Love of The Dead is one of those precious few areas of overlap between Ronnie James D.o.S. and I.

Anthem of the Sun, Live/Dead, Workingman's Dead, American Beauty, and Europe '72 are all, quite literally, perfect albums.

Well... maybe Workingman's falls just short, but... that's my favourite one, so.

What parts of Workingmans Dead fall short for you?
This is a very impressive collection of Roto Toms. That's 21 Roto Toms in all. That is only $33.00 a Roto Tom.

Basically, it feels like they were going for American Beauty but hadn't quite gotten there...? I've always seen it as the lesser Dead folk record. Maybe I hold that against it unfairly.

I don't think a lot of people would argue that Workingman's is superior to AB—in fact, I'd venture to say that as far as studio records go, the latter's probably their most heralded overall. I think they're both great, though.

Blues for Allah is my favorite studio recording of theirs.

I'm pretty sure I have heard people cite WD as superior to AB, but I can't cite any sources at the moment.

Case Candy, I wasn't trying to call you out. I have the same opinion and was wondering what particular parts did it for you. My bits:

1.) "Please don't dominate the rap, jack"
2.) Uncle John's Band, particularly the intro melody, but also as a whole.
3.) Easy Wind is entirely unmemorable. Sorry Pigpen.
4.) I'm not even sure if Casey Jones is a bad song, but it was ruined for me in 9th grade by classmates singing it and emphasizing the "cocaine" line to be cool and edgy.

I love Dire Wolf and Black Peter until the end of days though.

Oh, well, I love "Uncle John's Band." That's my favourite song on there!

How come nobody's mentioned that Dead record that starts with "Aox"?

While we're on the topic, have any of y'all checked out the aforementioned Day of the Dead record? I listened to a few tracks the other day... I didn't get too far and don't have anything approaching an opinion, but the Jerry vocal imitation really cracked me up (especially looking at you, Matthew Houck and Jim James  )

I love the title track, but my favorite song on that album is the Donna-sung "Sunrise", which is kinda a wanna-be Bond theme for the buckskin jacket set and probably one of the most unpopular Dead songs.
