Cymbals Eat Guitar were excellent in Prague and meeting Brian was such a pleasure :)

I might be seeing Swans again this coming Tuesday... later in the year I know I'm going to see Interpol, Minus the Bear and Placebo, there will also be more smaller shows... like Black Heart Procession later this month and shit

I've got tickets to see A Place to Bury Strangers opening for the Black Angels and tickets for Do Make Say Think.

I caught DMST at an outdoor festival a couple years ago, but it was a pretty short set. I'm excited to see them headlining a show.

True story time...

Frist time I saw her live was in Pittsburgh in 2000, at the opera house, as part of a "Voices of the New Millennium" series - basically artists doing innovative / crossover / not-quite-opera work. It was just her, singing and playing the piano. Except there was no "just" about it... it was like the gates of hell had opened... pure, overwhelming insanity. There were a *lot* of people who walked out of that performance in their fancy outfits... no doubt opera subscribers who had no idea what they had gotten themselves into that night

For me it was pure bliss.

But... I had consumed entirely too much coffee beforehand... and as the show went on I was increasingly in quite a bit of discomfort. But the performance was so fucking good that I just could not walk away from it to go piss. It got progressively worse (as such things tend to do), until I was in severe pain, which of course was a fitting accompaniment to the music. It was a wonderfully torturous rapture. Eventually something had to give, but I still refused to miss a single moment of the performance, so... yes ... I chose to piss my pants in the opera house, in the middle of a mind-blowing performance... and that release, with that accompaniment, was such pure bliss that it still ranks as one of the peak moments of my life.

:joy: :omg: :!!!:

No regrets.

That is dedication.

And yeah, she's at her best when she's live with a piano and nothing else.

I'm sure I'm not the first person to piss their pants at the opera house... there have to be some elderly enthusiasts who go in diapers, right?

This sounds so incredible:
Galás’ work in progress Espergesia (with words by Cesar Vallejo, from The Black Heralds), was recently performed solo a capella in the Emanuel Vigeland Mausoleum in Oslo, with no electronics or amplification, within the space’s natural 25-second delay, in complete darkness. This was the first public performance of the 17-minute work, and it began what Galás hopes to be a series of performances of the work in highly reverberant sacred spaces.

Worth noting, too, that the 25 seconds is really only for vocal range (it dies earlier at lower freqs, "only" 13 seconds or so  ). So holy fuck that would be a treat.

If I were God-Emperor she would have been doing more trad./blues stuff, though. That's my favorite style of her work.
