Yo yo yo. Steroid OD vs Angel Ring? They both seem to cover similar ground, but the Steroid seems to have more EQ options and a limiter which could be really neat. Does either bring their own flavor or are they meant to be quite neutral? Waiting for a few other LAL pedals to get back in stock and am thinking of grabbing one of these as a post dirt compliment.

Steroid od is discontinued last I heard.
Steroid o.d. is more compressed and has a lower output volume. I think it works well with other pedals to kinda shape the way they distort. Think of it like an LAL klon haha. More of an always on shaping thing.
Angel Ring is a clean boost with enough gain to make itself clip. It's kind of a more brute force thing, but it really works well eating more distortion. I think it kinda clarifies things. It's like a mix of a clean boost and a classic two knob distortion...Somewhere in between (the gain at the highest level is where the overdrive is).
I dunno, given relative price/availability and overall use, Angel Ring is probably the better value.
Steroid is great too, but may not fit all setups. It gets kinda squishy sometimes and I don't really like it on bass. However, it is pure magic when used with certain pedals (like rattle crow and 88 or something).
They are very different though.

Much appreciate, LG. Your posts and demos have been a constant LAL treasure trove.

I guess the Steroid being discontinued makes this choice much easier.
Btw, any updated thoughts on the Transroom and are you still digging it?

There's one on Reverb.
I need more LAL in my life too.
Lluna seems interesting so is the Angel Ring.
How's the Devil Tail?

Thanks! Imma keep an eye on that one.
The Devil Tail seems cool too. A metal distortion that oscillates is something which interests me greatly.

Haven't tried a Devil Tail, but the Devi Ever Destructo Noctavia is basically like a metal distortion that oscillates

Cheers. Love Devi's stuff, but I'm a bit sour on the brand from dealing directly with her.

Yeah, totally understandable. Just throwing it out as an alternative

Does Lluna have lots of range on the overdrive before getting into oscillation? Can it get quite heavy? How's the tone knob?
Thanks!!!

It gets fairly dirty before oscillating, but not to the point where it's really smooth and fuzzy iirc. Reasonably heavy? The tone knob has a pretty wide range, can get boomy and muffled or bright and piercing (and anything in between).
Been a while since I played one, so this is just based on my memory.
I know a certain someone has a demo of it, though....

Why is LAL so Japanese? I thought they were made in Australia.
I'm making a board that is basically all dba and lal. I'm pretty new to both companies but they don't disappoint either.

Yeah LAL is a super rad company. Probably the first boutique company I ever saw and went "I MUST HAVE IT", actually.
