I was sitting working on a website this morning when all the sudden there was a loud knock on the door and then all the sudden there my Obstructures was, sitting in a box with the FedEx guy at my door. AWESOME.

Fretwork = great. No more dead spots. Super comfortable. No more rough fret edges.
Pickups = fucking awesome. Wound pretty hot. Not Phat Cat hot, but really fucking useably hot. They sound great. Not super shrill or anything and 1000x better than the others.
He routed the pickup cavity excellently. The pickups are of course attached from the back of the guitar now, but it works out just fine.

Hnnnggg...
I really am considering ordering one of these.
I'm sort of worried about the neck though. I like fairly big necks, and I've heard these are pretty slim necks.
I don't want to email buddy with a bunch of questions, and then not buy one though. I know how busy he is, and how flaky I am.
There's just something about these that looks so appealing.

I do have a Rickenbacker on the way, but it will be about 8 months still, So I don't know. I could pay both off no problem before they showed up, but that's a lot of money to tie up in guitars.
BUT HNNNNGGG. I make all my money by playing and teaching guitar, so

Is there anyone with one in Toronto I can try?
I will bring awesome pedals for you to try. My collection spans many decades, and is awesome.
Any takers?

You can get that neck custom spec'd however you like Fuzzy Picklez. Should be good unless you're going for the baseball bat thickness of a '59 Gibson or something along those lines...

Nahh. I've got a warmoth neck on my telecaster, and I'd probably have them try to get the exact dimensions of that. It is the closest thing to perfection I've ever held.
You really shouldn't have told me they will custom spec the neck. This is gonna end with me spending hours trying to justify buying one.
The prices on these are like 2k+ though, right? Might to save for a few more months and get together a down payment.
MAYBE

I love the idea of having a guitar I could use to derail a train, then go jam with some friends.

Yeah, mine was $2500, not bad at all considering the custom nature and insane build quality involved. Much cheaper than high end Gibson and Fender Custom Shop stuff for sure. And they'll definitely recreate a neck for you, basically how I had 'em design mine. Kevin will remove more material internally if you want a thicker neck, keep the weight/neck dive issue under control.

Think it's a 30% down payment IIRC. Then you pay off the rest at your pace while you wait. Ships as soon as you finish paying and they're finished building.

Also, Kevin rules, don't worry about emailing with questions. He'll happily answer anything you ask regardless of whether or not you'll actually order in the end......

Very cool.
I may send a short e-mail, and see if what I have in mind is realistic.

You should.

I haven't had him shut me down on one request thus far. Seems if it's a physical possibility and doesn't defy the laws of physics, those bros can and will happily build it. :thumb:

Kev is awesome. He had excellent communication and went above and beyond in helping shape up my guitar. His work is great and I would recommend him to anyone!
